Throwback Thursday and Now - Will Wonders Ever Cease?

10 and a half years ago, when Miss Hailey Bug came to live with us, she was apparently crate trained. We quickly learned she was very determined to not stay in her crate, and after she destroyed the second one, we gave crate training up. If you click HERE you can read one of our stories from 2010. Here is picture from that post.

So you can all imagine my shock and surprise when the crate (we use it for Emma) has become one of Hailey's favourite places to sleep. We keep the door open and now we often find her resting there!

What? It is cozy.

  1. sometimes things fall in the right place like magic... do you think I should buy another doggy trailer and it will happen here too?

  2. we fully understand this Mis Hailey. we have a crate in the front bedroom, it has been there since 1989. Max our first dog used it but only if we had strangers in the home, he did not lke strangers. All of our dogs loved to sleep in it, Baby and Cooper, then Jake. Big boy went in it only twice and laid down. Beau completely ignores it, never even looks at it. but 3 of the dogs slept in it when i was on computer... Max and Baby were the only ones that destroyed things.

  4. Maybe she finds a little safety and security in there for some odd reason ... oh, to read their minds sometimes.

  5. That does look comfy. Just don't try to shut the door with her in it because she will probably go back to her Houdini ways. BOL!

  6. There's a BIG difference in a crate with the door OPEN and one with the door CLOSED!

  7. Maggie loved her crate just like you do, Hailey. Mom took the door off and it stayed in place all of her life.

  10. Interesting. Cinnamon, has never been crated. I'm not sure what she would do. Our "neice" Jewel (she is an Airedale) freaks out if the crate door is closed in the house, but is fine with it closed in the back of the SUV. Purrhaps the good memories are surfacing now and not the separation from her pack!

  12. What's a crate? Oh yeah, I think there's one all folded up in the shed. None of the cockers who've lived here have ever liked being in a crate. We cockers have to be with our humans at all times, or else we cry and howl. In fact one of my nicknames is Mr. Underfoot.

  13. Hi cousin, Ojo here! I like to be in the crate when *I* want to be in the crate, not when the people want me to be there. So I hear you, cuz!
