Nature Friday - more Wildlife and Obsession

Thanks Rosy for hosting this event.

We have some new kids in town . . . .

The baby turkeys. We have seen them in our yard. We are not allowed to chase them.

Now for more of Lady's obsession.

Find Us - Field Edition

Man and Phod are in blue

Lee is in pink

Let's play find it and hide behind the hay!

Hailey Find Us!

Maybe I will just look longingly across the field I am not allowed to go in and ignore the boys and not play their game!

Find Us! Hailey Find Us!

Ok, ok, I am coming. There is nothing good over there anyway.
Phod, you are not doing a good hiding job.

That is because I got bored and I smell deer poop.

Save some for me!

Tree Time - by Lee

Lady is working out of the house about 3 days a week now so Man and I have created a new lunchtime routine. Go out, pup around and then sit under our maple tree.

One day last week, when Lady was home I let her join me. She laid in the grass with me. During belly rub time,  managed to scratch her under the eye with my back foot. So a good time was had by all!

Mischief Monday - Limited Precious Time - by Phod

 Dear pals,

Apparently I am not as young as I use to be and am more prone to getting stiff and sore. A few weeks ago, they say  I had too much outdoor Precious time and was left a little lame. I can't imagine the soreness has anything to do with my beloved ball. Outdoor Precious was kept from me, pills were shoved down my throat to help with the pain. For a week I rested.

Imagine how excited I was when my peeps said because I hadn't limped for a few days, I could have some Precious time.

This joy was short lived because I was limpy again. But for less time. Currently the Man and Lady are debating if/when I should get outdoor Precious time. Lady is thinking I can have her today with now throwing and running.

Growing old is not for the meek!

Your slightly limpy pal, Phod

Nature Friday - Wildlife and Lady's Obsession

Thanks to Rosy for hosting Nature Friday.

What do we see?

Our deer friends across the field!

Also, Lady has a new obsession. One of her goals had been to plant a sunflower. Well, some of them made it and she is obsessed with them. You would think she had done more than throw some seeds in the ground. There may be more pictures in the coming weeks.

Hero Tuesday- Dramatic Recreations

We had two possible very yucky wildlife encounters last week in our morning walks. Both took place before 6 am. Both resulted in me crowning a dog the hero of the day!

Mischief Monday - The Problem with 4

Friday. Uncle Chris and Emma were visiting for the weekend. Lady was fighting a migraine. Uncle Chris and the Man went out to pick up dinner, leaving 3 dogs who need to go out. So out they went. 2 of the neighbour children and Callie happened by and the following happened:

-Emma was terrified and only ok if Lady was holding her. She ended up in the house.

-Hailey tried to use Lady's distraction to go for a walk, so she ended up in the house.

-Callie was chasing her boy and nipping his ankles, which Phod interpreted as hurting his boy, and while he did not get aggressive, was leaning that way, so he ended up in the house.

-While Lady was sitting talking to the kids, Callie decided to go into the bush, so Lady went and got her.

Lady said it felt like a comedy and was a very busy 30 minutes!

Nature Friday - Part of the Forest Soundtrack

We are lucky to have at least 3 types of woodpeckers in our yard. They make up the soundtrack of our lives. We are more likely to hear them then see them. The other day, I happened to have my phone when was was visible. I believe (as I am new to bird watching) this is a downy woodpecker.

Thanks to Rosyfor hosting this hop!

Almost 11 Year Years With Hailey

Saturday is Hailey's 11th Gotcha Day. Our lives have been an adventure since our anxious, independent, determined, sweet, whirlwind blasted into our lives and hearts. Next week will also mark 11 years of blogging. Without our girl, we would not be part of an amazing community and have made wonderful friends. One never knows where life will take you!

I think it is truly fair to say Lee is living her best life. Man works at home all the time still (and likely will for a long time). She is rarely alone. She has more off leash privileges (mainly because she has slowed down a little but she is also listening more). She has a routine she likes, this includes Sunday morning pancakes.

To Hailey!

May you have many more sunny days!

Mischief Monday - A Matter of Opinion -by Phod

 Dear pals,

Since the field has been cut, I believe the most wonderful thing has happened. Lady and Man disagree with me on this.

Now that the grass is gone it is much easier to find the deer poop. It makes an excellent snack.

Lady and Man say I am a gross boy, but they don't understand the delicacy they are missing out in.

Your not gross at all pal Phod

P.S. my blood work came back fine. Nothing to worry about. I have also reluctantly started my new allergy meds. Will keep you posted if they help. Lady is torn, while she wants me to be comfortable and happy, these are crazy expensive pills. It is costing $10 a day. Of course, if they work, I am lucky my people can afford this, but they would rather not.

Final Fiction Nature Friday - Summer Evening

Thanks to Rosy for organizing the nature part and Aunty-Yam for organizing Final Fiction Friday.

The air sits heavy as I watch the cotton candy sky  turn from pink to grey.

Enjoying the last of the quickly shortening summer day.

Lake Troubles - By Phod

Dear pals,

You know I am a water dog and I love my lake.

In my youth, I loved jumping off the dock, however this has changed. As some of you noted last week, part of the dock is new. It is all also on riser now, making it further from the water. Last week when I jumped off it, I went completely underwater and I did NOT like that. I don't want to jump off the dock anymore.

Last week, one night we were down for an sunset swim and there was a little plane. It made me very nervous. If you remember in the spring, we had a small forest fire and there were 2 water boomers working hard. Well it turns out those scared me and I now don't like planes at my lake.

Lady and Man think I am becoming sensitive and laugh a little at me. I think I am just attuned to what makes me happy.

In spite the lake problems, I still do enjoy a quick dip. We had another extreme heat wave last week and it was nice options cool down. When I am done, I pick up my bumper and walk home.
