Play Time!

If Callie is out in her yard (which she often is, her people spend way more time outside than ours), and we go out, she will come over to say hi!

We have been staying extra far away from her people - actually avoiding them to the point they messaged us to make sure we were ok. We are doing so because we are being very good neighbours, They had to cancel a trip a few weeks ago due to some of the household members getting Covid, and we don't want them to have to cancel the make up trip next week because they caught Man's bug.

So while the people are off limits from each other, we can still have some playtime with Callie.

What should we do?

Let's play!

Winter Playtime - by Phod

Dear pals,

While you know Precious and I are BFFs, in the winter, it is not safe for her to come outside. She would get lost in the snow. So in the winter, I have a disc.

I love to play with my disc. I love to chase it and try to rip it apart. Come play with me!

Look up!

Look left!

Roll break!

Trot down the driveway

Climb out of the deep snow

Enjoy the view

Trot some more

Play tug with Lady and refuse to give up the disc.
Know she cheats, she always gives a big kiss on the nose to get me to let go.
That is the part of the game I don't like!

Thanks for playing with me!

Your pal, Phod the great fetcher

Find Us - Field Edition

Man and Phod are in blue

Lee is in pink

--------------------------------------------------------------

Let's play find it and hide behind the hay!

Hailey Find Us!

Maybe I will just look longingly across the field I am not allowed to go in and ignore the boys and not play their game!

Find Us! Hailey Find Us!

Ok, ok, I am coming. There is nothing good over there anyway.
Phod, you are not doing a good hiding job.

That is because I got bored and I smell deer poop.

Save some for me!

Phody and Emma

Emma came over last weekend with Uncle Chris. The last 2 visits Phod has tried to figure out how to play with Emma. He really hasn't done this before. Before, he just let her have the toys. Here is a little video of them trying to play (with help from the humans).

Thankful Thursday - Off Leash Time

While Phod gets a lot of off leash time, Miss Hailey Bug does not as she has a very hard time staying in the yard. On the weekend we let the 2 have a play together in driveway, off leash. It gave Lady a chance to play more with her new camera (you will see it is a work in progress).  It let the pups get exercise quickly because it was cold out!

Hailey was thankful for the run! We are thankful she mostly stayed!

Roo - A Great Toy

While I was away, I had approximately 20 minutes in a TJ Maxx. This is not very much shopping time for a Canadian in the US, but it was better than nothing. My favourite part of TJ Maxx (and Winners in Canada, they are owned by the same company) is the household and pet area, so this is where I spent my time.

I tired to resist getting something for the pups, but I couldn't help myself and I bought them a kangaroo. I wish I had taken a picture of Roo before giving it to the dogs, but after 30 minutes of play, Roo looked like this:

Roo was a wonderful toy, who was much loved, and they had a great time playing with it.

Play Time Made Me Laugh

Barley wanted someone to play tug with him. He found our awesome big tug rope made by @kenzieandtroy. Phod did briefly play with him (like for 5 seconds).

Tendra then found a leg from raccoon and wanted to play tug with it. We had a great game with this little tiny toy (not the lovely tug toy). What silly pups!

In the end, Phod was victorious.

A Play Date

On Labour Day, I set up a play date with the dogs. Taking the dogs into the city is always a big production because of Phod's car sickness. We have to plan it the night before to give him his drugs, and not feed him in the morning. I feel bad that he can't do it more, but it is our reality.

Our play date was with a friend's 8 year old, rescued, Cocker Spaniel/Lab mix, Huey.
Phod meeting Huey

We drove into town and met them at one of the big dog parks, Bruce Pit. Cousin Emma and Uncle Chris met us too.  My friend has a 6 year old and an 8 year old. Hailey barked at them for a second and was then fine. She was also amazing when a toddler came over to her. She just ignored him.

We walked around for about an hour. The pups were all good. Hailey did chase a few squirrels, but came back. Zaphod sat in the one puddle in the park. Huey tried to hump everyone. Just normal dog stuff.

Happy pups!

Then we were invited back to my friend's house. Hailey and Zaphod have not had the opportunity to visit other places that our little dogs did. Bigger dogs, and dogs like Hailey are more of an imposition. It was only the second house other than ours that we had taken Phod too. My friend has a fully fenced yard, and because it was a nice day, we stayed outside. The dogs were amazing. They just pupped around and Phod kept trying to go into the house. It was funny that Huey didn't try and hump everyone at the house.

Overall, it was great and we would do it again!
