FFF Nature Friday - More Spring with Styx

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends!

I am so excited, so, so, so excited, that it is the best Friday in the month. It is both Aunty Yam's FFF and Rosy and Sunny's Nature Friday.

Because I am not allowed outside (although I do try, try, try to sneak out), I have to take pictures from the Lady's phone to share with you.

Here I go:

Deer visit my yard

I sniff the fragrant flowers

Life is so so good

This deer was actually seen away from the house on one of Lady's walks

Lanie's Log - Becoming a Player

It has been 219 days since the cat redistribution system made me a prisoner in the big house.

There were some big changes last week. A second robot litter had been purchased and put on a tray in my cell. Well some cat (no proof but our best guess is Tigris), insisted on peeing on the tray and not in the litter. So the litter was removed from the cell, put in the bathroom with the other litter and my cell was closed. Now I do not have the cell. I heard Lady Warden talking about turning my cell into a foster room . . . . Man Warden was seen rolling his eyes (but did not say no, so time will tell).

They did move my tree (I have claimed it) back to where it had been before my imprisonment. I do enjoy it there, watching the birds and squirrels and other cats and chipmunks and all the things.

Since I am not in my cell, I am out and about more and I want to play, play, play! I love playing. Who would have knowing playing was the best thing! I am the most playful cat the Wardens have ever imprisoned. They never would have imagined I would want to play so much.  I even will demand play.

I threw the ball at the Lady Warden to tell her to put her stuff down and play!

Well at times I may resent it some, I must admit, life isn't half bad at the big house. Maybe the cat re-distribution system was on to something when I showed up at this door.

Tuesdays with Tigris - Sun and Boxes

 Reader,

While Prisoner #3 complains about her life in the house, I would like to complain about having a garbage cat in the house. I call her that, because the people may as well have found her in a garbage can. Stupid cat re-distribution system.

Anyways, in spite of it all, life here in the big house is tolerable (even for those of us on diets).

There is plenty of warm sun, and places to sit in it.

There has also been an increase in boxes.

So I guess I can't complain too much.

Mischief Monday - i don't See the Problem - by Styx

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends!

The people have been a little less busy and been home, home, home. I love when they are home the best.

As you may or may not know, Lady and Man have put a mat for me (well, sometimes the girls use it too, but it is mine, mine, mine) on the dining room table. I like to sit there when they are eating. I know I am lucky, lucky, lucky, because so many cats aren't allowed to do fun things like this. Lady and Man don't mind if I am not trying to steal their food (I love, love, love chicken and hamburgers!)

The other day, I thought dinner time was a great time for a little bath. I needed to be doing something while waiting for my chicken. Lady caught this pose and said it was not very table friendly.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Is this body shaming?

your pal, letting it all hang out, Styxy

Nature Friday - Tulips

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends,

We mentioned this week that Lady had a super, super, super busy week. She was out for work and for fun. It was a lot, to much for such an old Lady like her. She is tried and we missed her so, so, so much!  But one of the fun things she did, can be a beautiful post for you. So not all is lost.

On Mother's Day, Lady and a friend went to the Tulip Festival. In case you didn't know, from 1940-1945 the Dutch Royal family lived in Ottawa. In 1943 when Princess Margriet was born, the Ottawa Civic Hospital temporarily became Dutch territory so the Princess was ensured Dutch citizenship. To thank Canada for this and giving them a safe place to live, in 1945 Princess Juliana sent 100 000 tulips to Canada. Every year the Dutch Royal Family sends 10, 000 bulbs and the Dutch Bulb Growers Associations ends 10, 000 more.  These are added to other bulbs for a total of about 300, 000 tulips in several locations in the city.

Lady and her friend went to the small sight, Major's Hill Park, downtown Ottawa, as it was Mother's Day and they didn't want a huge crowd.  It was also closer to a great place to get cake as they were celebrating the friend's birthday. The flowers did not disappoint. There are so many kinds of tulips Lady always forgets this! (Google says there are 75 distinct wild species and over 3000 varieties).

I hope you enjoyed a tiptoe through the tulips (which is actually prohibited at the festival).

Lanie's Log - Lucky 7

I have been a prisoner for 7 months now. Can you believe it? The Man Warden said I have gone from a prisoner to the one who rules the prison, as it should be.

Overall, if you didn't know I had been feral, you would  just think I was a slightly skittish cat. I live my life more or less like Tigris and Styx, just with fewer cuddles and hat tax. I spend significantly less time in my cell. The people hardly ever see me in there.

Here are a few pictures from this week.

Showing my tortitude to the Lady Warden

Shining in the sun

Sleeping on Lady Warden's desk (I will only do this if she is not in the room)

Hunting the bird

Guarding the house at night

People have asked if I have shown an interest in going outside. I do like to look out the window, especially when it is open. A couple mornings a week, I pace in the window and call, but that is for pets. I never go near a door when the people are trying to go in and out. Styx is the one who does that, all the time.

Tuesdays with Tigris - Another Week

The Lady was very busy last week and was barely home. She said life is going to slow down a bit now. I had to tolerate late dinners and late breakfasts, besides the hat tax. May we be back into our routine soon.

Mischief Monday - A Belated Thank You - by Styx

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends,

I am delayed in giving this thanks because the Lady, who is the controller of the purse was a bit delayed in her part of this. I hope this post makes up for the delay!

Cecilia won my "When will the Snow be Gone" contest and was generous and donated her prize to the charity of our choice in memory of Hailey and Zaphod. We love, so, so, so many charities that help animals, but in the end, Lady made a donation to the Ottawa Paw Pantry. Thank you Cecilia for letting us help feed animals in need.

Now, to make up for this delay, Lady thought we could say sorry by share us wearing some costumes she found in the Paw Pantry storage unit when cleaning it out. She bought them in the "pre-sale" for an upcoming garage sale. These are dog costumes. Lady laughed so hard she cried.

We hope this makes up for the delay.

Thanks again Cecilia for your generosity.

Nature Friday - Spring, Spring, Spring - Styx and Lanie

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends,

It is your best buddy Styx, who would never be forgotten and Lanie too! We have been spending a lot of time by the window as it is open, open, open and spring is in the air!

Lady snapped the following pictures for us to share with you.

A Stunning Sunset

Daffodils she planted years ago that only started coming up more recently

Trilliums - such a pretty spring flower

Thanks to Rosy and Sunny for hosting this event.

Lanie's Log - Happy Enough

It has been over 200 days since my imprisonment. It feels like only yesterday I was a wild cat, and here I am, living as a house cat.

While I did not appreciate my original capture, I have assimilated well. If you can't beat them join them.

Hanging out

I spend most of my day out of my room. I really like the upstairs now. I usually eat my breakfast and dinner up there. I love to play with the Wardens and Styx (I would like to play with Gris, but she says no). I also love to watch out the window, especially when it is open. While I like looking, I don't really want to go outside.

I am even getting caught doing things I shouldn't. Can you spot me in this picture?

Life is good enough for now. I think being part of a clowder (a group of cats) helps.

The Lady Warden's Dad gave her this:

Some would say she is already there.

Tuesday's with Tigris - I am a Tiger

 Reader,

Sometimes my people forget I am 95.6% tiger. I can look cute and still be fierce.

Even fierce tigers need their beauty sleep

Lady and I were having a good play the other day, and I reminded her that like my river namesake I am fast, arrow like and swift, which are also tiger like things.  I got her really good. There was blood.

Some of the scratches the next day. They hurt.

I didn't feel bad about it, even if it resulted in the torture of nail cutting. This is what she gets for bringing a Lanie into my kingdom.

Mischief Monday - Traitor

Hi friends, hi friends, hi friends,

First thank you so much for your POTP for my heart murmur.  Man picked up the meds to make me feel sleepy before my appointment in June, and he asked for meds for Cinder. Long, long, long,  time readers may remember that Cinder was one of the Lady and Man's cats a long, long, long time ago.  I can't believe the Man caused mischief by using the wrong name. We are supposed to be best, best, best, buddies!

Me and my best buddy Lady, oh I mean Man (I can say the wrong, wrong, wrong name too)

The real mischief goes to Lady. She spent time with other cats, traitor, traitor, traitor! She went to Aunt C's and saw cousins Loopy and Uber.  Fortunately, she didn't take many pictures, which suggests she does care about us more. She did snap this one of Loopy.

So poor Styxy is feeling left out and forgotten this week. It was a hard, hard, hard week.

you friend, Styxy the forgettable

Nature Friday - Seeing Spring - with Tigris

 Reader,

I am having to do Styx's post because he is too busy looking out the window to write. To quote him he "loves, loves, loves" looking out the open window. He especially loves it when Lady had not been lazy and has actually filled the feeders. It is more interesting, and I do find myself looking out a bit more now.

I will host, but I am not getting out of bed for it.

Lady suggest I share the first sign of spring in flowers.  Her are some flowers Styx can't eat.

First, a boring picture of some woods, but if you look closely you can see the start of the trilliums coming out.

Next is the spring flowers at the side of the house.

I hope you enjoyed this fairly boring nature. Before I go back to nap, thanks to Rosy and Sunny for hosting this.

Lanie's Log - All Is Well

It has been 198 days since my imprisonment.  I continue to enjoy what the big house has to offer. The Wardens were having drinks with the neighbours who used to feed me on the weekend, and they asked if I showed an interest in leaving. Lady Warden said, of the 3 of us, I was the least interested in a door. Callie's Man said that is because I nearly froze a few winters. There is probably some truth to this. While at first I hated being captured, as time has gone by, I see the comforts of being a cherished house cat prisoner.  Although don't let the Wardens know this.

I am spending more and more time out, upstairs with the people. Gris and I have not found a full way to exist, but there is less hissing, so we make progress.

Styx and I can now share the perch by an open window

Lady is seing more of this - the 3 of us close (I am the dark blob on the cahir to the left)

I can relax enough to fall asleep out in the open

I am still skittish when the people move around, I don't like when they are standing and I prefer to get pets that don't involve food when I am in my tree in my cell. Maybe I always will. Lady Warden says I am doing better than she ever imagined and even if this is as good as it gets, it is amazing.
