5 weeks with Emma

Emma has been with us for 5 weeks. The first week was great, weeks 2-4 were very stressful. She had a lot of accidents, she wanted to be held or played with all the time. She was just exhausting. By the end of week 4 we were wondering if we were going to need to board her for a few days so we could keep our sanity. It was a good reminder to us that we never want a puppy again.

Week 5 things improved again. A large part of this is because we started using the crate more. When she hadn't done her business or we couldn't monitor her, we put her in the crate. Because she was in there more, she screamed less when we used it. I think she had 2 accidents all week. One was clearly my fault (I forgot to put her in the crate before my shower).

Overall, things are good. The 3 dogs get along really well. They play together. There are only little moments of jealousy when for example we first get home and they all want love, but they just push and wrestle and it is chaotic and cute!

We have Emma for another month or so. Let's hope these four weeks go well.

  1. We feel a bit sorry for Emma, she must be confused as to where she lives. Sounds like you've worked her out though.

OH the stories I could tell you cos I live with two puppies and no CRATES, Mom is seriously thinking about buying two of them for those two puppies, sometimes I and HER need a break, ....they can be just exhausting and we are trying not to get any pee on the new area rug in the family room, DAD called today and said WHOOPS there was an accident on the rug..mom is sad. We will miss the puppy days when they are gone, maybe..........
