Mischief Monday - A Tiny Scare

First, the dogs think I should win the mischief of the week award in our house because I didn't pull out the camera and take a million new pictures of them for the blog this week. The temperature (which is much cooler now) and the stress of work (it is a work in progress, we are moving forward) left me with little energy and spirit. This week will hopefully be much better.

However, I say the mischief of the week goes to Ms. Hailey Bug. I got up Saturday morning at 6:45 to take the pups out. While Hailey did a poop, she did not pee. This is highly unusual for our girl. I wondered if she had peed in the house as I had heard her up before I got up. Couldn't find anything. She ate and drank. We kept taking her out, hoping she would pee. We decided if she hadn't peed by Sunday morning we would take her to the vet because she didn't seem to be in any distress. Finally, about 12 hours after her last pee, she had a big pee and we celebrated. She got 6 cookies for being such a good girl!

My best guess is that since it has been so hot, she just got a little dehydrated. She has been back to her normal peeing self.

I always find it a little stressful when one of my pets changes his/her habits. It always causes that moment of panic.

  3. Hmmm, my Ma would worry if I didn't pee either. I am always drinking water, even when it isn't horribly hot here (one month of the year), and I am always good for a pee. Thank goodness Hailey finally did her thing so you didn't have to worry anymore.

  8. Yep our mom worries too. She thinks the neighbors must think she is nuts, cause she looks at our poo after we poop ( she wants to know who pooped it) to make sure all looks normal. BOL!

  12. I'm happy there's nothing wrong with Hailey that drinking more water can't fix. Love her smile here.

We also tend to panic when one of the cats does something out of the ordinary, like sleep somewhere other than where they usually do or go up or downstairs when they normally don't.

  14. We think she's laughin' at you in that last photo. Different behaviour does mess with your mind. Glad she's okay.

Our camera disappeared for a few days...found it under the Driver's seat in the car.

  16. I totally would've freaked out, too! Dog owners can get so wonky over our dogs, haha.

  17. I totally agree with you, changes like that are worrisome until they straighten out. The same thing happened with Daisy a couple of years ago, with the same resolution, thankfully. But it's a really good thing to notice things like that just in case! Glad it all worked out easily (no pun intended!!). :)

  18. Hailey you are not much different than Millie. We have learned that she doesn't need to pee half as much as Walter. That sure was a party you had just for peeing though.

  24. Oh, I agree. If anyone acts even a little "off" I am following them around the house studying their every move, to be sure they're OK!

  25. Oh I know that feeling! Especially with Anne who has had a ruptured disc in her back when Mazie accidentally stepped on her almost 3 years ago. I monitor all of her input/output for all changes including inability to hold her urine as long since this means her back is becoming an issue.
