Training Thursday - Off Leash

Because it has been too cold to be outside for too long, and because we know the snow will slow her down, we have been letting Hailey have some very closely supervised off leash time. This allows her and Phod to have great plays in the driveway. One of us, usually the Man, stands at the end of the driveway. The other, stands at the top. Hailey has her leash so she is easier to grab if she stops listening. We have done this a few times recently and she has been very good. Hopefully this will continue!

  10. Yay! Good for you. I do it with Delilah sometimes as we are coming back into the yard after our walk. I unleash her at the bottom of the driveway, she's done fairly well with that, although if a deer or other dog came by, I'm pretty sure she'd dust me off.

I also do it up in our woods/field, but only for a few minutes at a time, and I like to end it with her responding to me calling her. That way she wins and we aren't feeling frustrated.

    Keep up the good work.

  13. Looks like these Snowdoggies are having a blast! Hopefully not too much traffic on your street during playtime. I wish we could do that, but we never let our Husky off leash, we've always heard that their hard wiring kicks in quickly and they'll just go for miles without stopping & get lost.
