Trouble on a Tuesday - A Visitor

Whose in the cage Lady brought home?

Hello friend! (while Phod sniffs the car to determine where it has been)

It is cousin Emma - here for 9 or 10 days while Uncle Chris is in San Diego for work

We can't imagine we will have any mischief to report next week!

Mischief Monday - The Unexpected

What could possibly have caused mischief this week here in our slice of paradise?

Our house on a summer evening

This week's winner is the birds! Finally,  last week, they were about to start rebuilding our deck (which also means finishing the demolition) and the day before it started, Man discovers the following:

\

So now morally (and actually legally), while there is a chance this may be a viable nest (momma bird is around), construction on at least this side of the deck is on hold. Lady hasn't been able to identify the bird yet, but likely some sort of sparrow.

When this was discovered, and after all the internet research on nest removal, Lady wasn't sure if she should laugh or cry. She went with laughing. She also had a moment of, if he had come and done the demolition earlier, this never would have happened.  But here is where we are and we just go with what the universe has given us. Lady and Man will be monitoring this next over the coming weeks and we will give you an update!

Trouble on a Tuesday - What About Me? by Lee

 Hi pals,

Everything these days is "Phody, Phody, Phody." What about me? I am not being an easy dog these days either!

Yes, I am doing my best off leash walking and listening. It really helps that I am slower. Yes, for the most part I am eating better, thanks to the mixing of soft food and hard food.

However, I have had to go back on my prozac because I was working myself up every night and this was working Phod up every night and no one was happy.

Also, probably 5/7 nights (all of 'Lady's nights', she has no idea how I know), I feel the need to be out in the wild world. I don't want to miss a thing.  It has been as early as 1:30 am and as late as 5 am (which on a work day for Lady is ok). Lady often can't really get back to sleep, or it takes a long time, so she has been a bit tired. However, she has got to enjoy the call of the coyotes, the song of the whip-poor-will, and the light display of the fireflies. Due to all the smoke and rain, we haven't had too many starry nights.

Lady is hoping this is a phase, but time will tell. For now, she is thankful for the opportunity to have this quality time with me (because lampshade, I mean Phod), usually doesn't get up with us. At least that is what I tell her.

Mischief Monday - Cone Troubles - by Phod

 Dear pals,

First, I am overwhelmed by the amount of POTP you all sent for me. Thank you all and thanks to June and her Lady for making a great badge for me (and not using a picture where my ear looks yucky.

If you wear your cone in your hole while digging, it gets dirty

I started the first day having to wear the big plastic cone all day,  mostly because it captured the blood and minimized the mess. Then the Lady and Man started to give me time out of the cone, when I was eating and when they could watch me. This was great because it has been very hot.

Lady ordered me a very nice inflatable cone. It was much more comfortable, however, during the first night, I managed to chew the plug apart and deflate it and take it off. Lady is so thrilled she spent money of this.

The short lived donut

At the time of writing this, Lady has ordered me a soft cone. She is hoping it lasts longer than 12 hours.  I am only wearing my cone, when outside off leash (because you know I want to roll and roll and roll), and when my people aren't home. I don't like this one, because I honestly have never left my ears alone as much as I am now. However, they would rather be safe than sorry.

At this time, everything seems to be healing as hoped. I do continue to have to live this ways as I don't get the canal removed until the middle of the month. Lady and Man hope that at this point, my ear will be really, really, better. Lady has accepted that I am likely now going to have one pointy ear and one floppy ear.

I don't want Lady to touch my ear but she got this picture of my canal - or as she calls it, my earring.

Thank you again for all your POTP and love.

Your pal, the very good lamp shade, Phod
