Mischief Monday - No Diet For Me!

 Dear pals,

I mentioned last Thursday that I was on a diet. It wasn't a full diet, Lady and Man were just trying to feed me more inline with what the vet suggested. However, the amount of food the vet suggested left me hungry. Furthermore, when Lady and Man tried to switch me to just the food that should help my kidneys, it didn't make my tummy feel good. Since we are all about the quality of my life, I get to eat what I want, when I want, within reason (sometimes I would eat too much and make myself sick). I also get more table scraps now.

Lady wonders if other people have crazy food spots like us. It is taking over the island!

Currently to feed me looks like:

  • Some kangaroo (not pictured here as it is in my food bucket  (this makes up 1/3 of my food)
  • Some of my kidney care food (another 1/3 of my food)
  • 1/3 is some special food to help my tummy, and then my topper which is currently a rabbit fish mix.
  • On top of that I get my probiotic and some of the Ultra beef topper that also help my tummy
If Phod's food is any different, we switch, so Lady is having to do about the same for his (just less Kidney Care). Gone are the days of one scoop of food and Lady and Man are done. Now there is measuring and mixing.

your pal, the less hungry, Hailey Bug

Hailey, I hope you appreciate the love and care that is going into preparing all those foodables for you?! Quality AND Quantity, it seems. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. between feeding and measuring and putting pills in boxes so I don't forget to give them when and where and how, I spend more time on Beau's food that our own. his stomach will not take people food any longer and he is so upset he doesnt' get tidbits from our plates. it sounds like he and Hailey and da Nelly and Misty are all doing the same thing at the same time

  4. YES Lee there were times when we 'tried to switch Madi's canned food to KD'. I tried to disguise it by adding some of her favorite Fancy Feast to it. SHE was no dummy and OMCs she often looked at me like I had horns coming out of my head. Eventually she was 'ok' with KD kibble but not the canned. Our vet told us she also NEEDED to eat so it was ok to switch back to Fancy Feast Pates that she liked.
There were times I had rows and rows of canned food in the fridge trying to find one that would work with the KD Nope.
    Hugs Cecilia

  5. We understand how difficult it can be to try to change our food too, Hailey. Right now we're on a 50/50 mix of K/D and our regular Merrick kibble. Millie's kidney numbers were creeping up and with us both being over twelve years old our doctor thought it would be fine to put us both on the K/D mix. We both like it but our parents think it's made Millie's toots a little more potent. BOL!

  7. Hailey! Phod! Our Peep is really into quality of life for us here too. We did the same with all the previous hairy Slobbery sisters, hissy old Licorice, Nellie Bellie and Cinnamon last spring and for Kozmo right now. One thing Mom does for Kozmo is she adds warm water and stirred up wet food with the special crunchies. Getting Mr Kozmo to drink enough water is the only issue we have right now but he us really good at taking his pills 2 times a day.
We Love your Proudly Canadian button!
Keep being AWESOME! Marvelous Marv, Kozmo, Jo Jo, Nutcase er Nutmeg and Mom Barb

  9. All that matters is that you eat. Someday someone with power is going to investigate Prescription Dog food for the scam that it is. It is at least twice the price it should be.

  10. It used to be meals in that mix it up when MJF was still here. Right now were are one or two scoops, depending on the poup, and then topped off with raw freeze dried chicken/salmon, and then some supplements, which we scarf down like treats! Twice a day!

We sure hope your new routine will keep you filled up and satisfied as well as helping with all your issues.
