Mischief Monday - Protesters and Convoys

Dear pals,

We do not want to make our blog political, but some crazy things are happening in Canada, especially in our closest city Ottawa. It made the late night talk show scene so you may have heard about it.

She is home!

Starting the weekend of January 29, thousands of protesters, mainly truckers, arrived to protest the vaccine mandate. To cross both sides of the boarder, truckers need to be double vaxxed. 90% are. While it is complicated and Lady has only scratched the surfaced on it, it has morphed into a total anti-covid restrictions, anti-government, white supremacist mess. (Similar protests are spreading across the country). While many of the original protesters have left, a core has stayed. While Lady is a believer in freedom of speech and assembly, even when it is hard, she has serious concerns about the white supremacist element. It appears, much of the funding for this comes from them. Pro-hate, is not cool. It is continuing indefinitely.

So you may be asking, how does this cause mischief for us? We live outside the city. Well, the problem is Lady has to cross through the downtown area on one of the 5 bridges from Ottawa to Gatineau, several times a week. Due to all that has happening, not all the bridges are open, traffic is a nightmare, and Lady is exposed to the honking and other protesters.

No protestors out here!

After hearing it was taking people over 2 hours just to cross the bridges (many medical personal live in Quebec and work in Ottawa, as it is cheaper on our side of the river), Lady realized she couldn't do this. So on Tuesday evening, she packed up and move to Grammie and the Big Guy's. The live just south of Ottawa, about 40 minutes from her work. She came home Friday night. She left again on Sunday, and will be back Wednesday night. Fortunately, she had planned on having the following week off to hibernate.

She will share one funny moment from her drive home Friday. She felt blessed crossing the bridge only took 30 minutes. Anyway, at one of the corners she saw a protester dressed in an inflatable skeleton dinosaur costume. She got the giggles thinking someone thought, I am going to go to an occupation - hmmm, what should I wear - I know an inflatable Dino suit!

You have to go again?

The Benefit of Extreme Cold - by Lee

There is a benefit to the extreme cold and deep snow. My peeps let me out in the backyard all by myself and I get to eat bird seed and sniff bird prints.

Trouble On A Tuesday - Dryer Down

Last weekend, the dryer stopped working. After speaking to several repair people, the Man decided he would look at it himself.

The peeps took this on Saturday.

It went sort of like this:

Lots of HBO words.

While unplugging it Lady got a minor shock (it stung for a few hours, but she is ok).

Even with the water off, it leaked everywhere.

More HBO words.

After opening it, Man saw the belt was fine and he said "my repair is done. We will have to call someone."

As he pointed out later, this is not the worst repair they have every done.

While all this was happening, we were very good pups and stayed well out of the way.

Mischief Monday - The Cold Continues

Dear pals,

We have had another week of extreme cold. It was so cold every morning, we didn't get a proper walk. We limped to get the mail a few times. A few days at lunch it was warm enough to be outside for like 15 minutes before our paws froze.

We have begun to get restless and are driving Lady a little crazy.

We should have started this early because this got us some puzzle time!

The real mischief is the treats Lady put in the purple puzzle were too big to get out!

After a good try, Lady took the treats out and let me have them!

FFF Nature Friday - Too Cold!

Thanks to Rosy for hosting the Nature hop and thanks to Aunty-Yam for hosting Final Fiction Friday (FF)

As we have mentioned, it has been too cold here. Lady documented the end of the cold snap last week. Saturday morning.

These screen shots of the weather (first in C, second in F) were taken about 30 minutes after we had been out for about 3 minutes).

Maybe if I rub my face my feet won't feel so bad!

Lady loves these trees

Going quick as it is cold!

No matter how cold, he always rubs his ears, face and makes snow angels!

Now to our FFF portion:

It's too cold for me.
I prefer being snug and warm.
Wake me in the spring.
