Lake Walk - By Hailey

Last week we shared that Lady lost her mind got brave and took us for a walk on the lake. Lady mentioned she freaked because it was a little slushy, but it was only slushy on top, it was still a good 6-8 inches thick. Don't worry, it has been a bit mild so Lady won't be going out anytime soon.

While we were down there we ran into our neighbour Callie. She wanted to play. I told her it was against Covid rules to have close contact with anyone outside your household (if you live alone you can join one other household). She said people rules are stupid and we had a bit of a play!

I have to agree with her in some ways. Yes, Covid is very serious and we need to be careful, but it is probably a very low risk activity to say hi to your neighbour from a healthy distance. It is probably good to have those brief check ins with people because this is hard, especially in the winter which is hard for everyone.

This is Man telling Callie she can't come on our walk with us.

This is looking back at the skating rink the neighbours dug out. Bertie asked if we skate and the answer is no, neither Lady nor Man skate. Lady's mom tried to get her to learn as a child but Lady just sat and cried. Snowshoeing is Lady's only winter sport.

This year has been hard, but we have been blessed with a mild winter that allows us to get out and enjoy!

  1. that is like a miracle... technically you all can walk on da water now ;O)

  2. Hari OM
I would be tempted to get a sled and strap you two onto the front of it... but stopping might be an issue, yes?! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. That's interesting, Gail was under the impression that ALL Canadians learned to skate as soon as they could walk! This is based on the fact that when her mother was a wartime evacuee in Toronto, the school playground was apparently turned into a skating rink in winter.
Our social life at the moment consists of 1 + 1 walks with Gail's friends, who may or may not have dogs (sadly, most don't).

  4. How nice that Callie came out to play with you on the frozen lake. We've had a very mild winter here too and are missing the snow.

  5. I know how much your peeps enjoy at good snowshoe walkie...very nice of you to accompany them
    Hugs Cecilia

  6. ha ha, easy said you can walk on water. HOPE not, you might fall through... it is beautiful and glad you got to see/talk to others. i miss that a lot too....

  7. Snowshoeing seems like a much more sensible outdoor activity. I just don't work very well on ice. Stay safe.

  8. Oh, you can bet that if we were your neighbors we would be out there every day enjoying that snow, wooing hello to you and your peeps. And Mom says that she would bring her skates if someone would clear a spot on the ice for her:)

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  9. When Mom and Cinnamon go walking, sometimes they run into Terry and Baby Grrl and Little Guy! Cinnamon and Baby Grrl love to chase the balls and wrestle. We miss having them come into our house for coffee but we can wait until the covid is over. Its always nice to talk to the neighbors! Have a marvellously Happy Day!

  10. What a gorgeous lake and you can snowshoe and walk for miles! It's just beautiful!

  11. Oh, your lake is most BEAUTIFULS! I see nothin' wrong with us puppers havin' some fun with zoomies! peeps are a different story...they can't participate! plus ~~ peeps suck at zoomies! 😂
    Ruby ♥

  12. We finally got some snow that didn't just melt right away. Glad you pups were able to have some winter time fun on the ice! Stay warm, and stay safe!
