Mischief Monday - Bad Bathroom Habits

Emma has not been happy to be here this time for a visit. She has been engaging in some very undesirable behaviours.
First, she has taken to peeing on the floor, especially in the night. Uncle Chris says she likes to go out in the night (this is how she got sprayed by a skunk in the spring). She doesn't ask to go, she gets up, goes to the kitchen and pees on the floor.  She asks to get back on the bed, so you know she had an accident. To try and stop this we are trying to take her out as late as possible and closing  all the dogs in our bedroom while we sleep. Hailey doesn't like this as she wants to hide downstairs.

Secondly, and more annoyingly, she has peed on the bed twice. Once during a nap with the Man and once at night with the Man. Note, both these times the Lady wasn't in the room. To help prevent this, she is having to sleep on a pillow on the floor. She doesn't like this.

Man did try crating her while I was away last week, but no one slept.  August 18th won't be here soon enough!

  1. I wonder why such accidents always happen to the men... and to be honest, I'm glad it didn't happen on my side of the bed ;o) maybe it was the full moon what forced this nightly mischief? we have to go out since some days at 3 am... hope it is just the moon and not a law forevere here ;o)

  2. I have a middle of the night peeing bandit. She only does it if she has the freedom of the entire house. If she is shut in the bedroom with me, she waits until morning without a problem. Just one of Kori's quirks, sounds like you have a similar situation.

  7. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh me Emma might be missing her Dad. But that doesn't help you and the man. ON the bed my goodness that required lots of laundry...which we know is your hobby.
I hope Hailey and Phod don't pick up this bad habit.

  8. What a shame. After that last visit was so good. Hopefully, her manners will return very soon.

  9. Oh dear, that is a good way to wear out your welcome, Emma. Mom says put her in the crate as far away from the bedroom as you can and wear some earplugs.

  12. Peeing on the floor or bed can be our way of showing distress.
My huMom uses lavender essential oils & a product called D.A.P. for dogs.
Dog appeasing pheromone (DAP)helps support dogs during stressful situations. It's the synthetic copy of the natural dog appeasing pheromone released by the mother dog 2-3 days after giving birth.
They help me. Perhaps they will help Emma.

  13. I'm so sorry to hear about how tough this visit is. I just have to ask (because we went through this with a dog a long time ago) - could she have a UTI? If this is new behavior, it might be worth checking.

Most of all, I hope that things settle down very soon.

  16. Oh boy. Peein' on the kitchen floor, while not good, is an easy enough clean up. Peein' IN THE BED, however, yikes! Yeah, I agree with everyone else, if you are sure it's not a UTI, then it's probably anxiety. butts could be the former. Sendin' lots of AireZens, and paws crossed she stays off the bed....☺
