A Cat Free Year

Today marks one year since our angel Nin left us. Nin was 20 years old. Our angel Bagheera left us the year before at age 19. We had a cat in our house for 20 years.

While we have adjusted to a life with a cat, I really miss them. I still go to check/clean the litter every few weeks. I would get another one in a heartbeat and when I read stories of cats being found in yards etc. I am hopeful that one will find its way to our yard and need a home. I think that is about the only way I will convince the Man to get another one at this time. (There are lots of outdoor cats around, so it is possible).

Today I remember my two cats with love and affection, even if I really don't miss the litter (next cat is being toilet trained).

  2. Hope that some nice kitty wanders up to your house soon. We have just the opposite deal here. We are without a dog and the Mom really misses having a dog. You all have a nice day.

  4. Momma is always grumbling about the litter boxes, but I know she'll be sad when we don't have a cat in the house anymore.

  6. My aunt got her second cat that way... weeks after they lost their Felix, a cat suddenly appeared and this guy acted as if he always was there... and so she got Morris, who was with her for 12 years... maybe it will happen to her again and it will happen to you... cats are full of wisdom and magic and they have a sense for miracles...

  8. I like the new look! And a happy belated birthday!

After over 38 years of cat ownership (during which time we've had many, many cats), we've decided that the current gang of nine is it for us. We're retired, I'm handicapped, and we won't be able to deal with the mess or the maintenance much longer. Still, I can't help but get a little choked up when I realize we'll be empty-nesters in the not-too-distant future.

Your two little angels were beautiful, by the way.

  15. How wonderful that both Baggy and Nin lived such long lives. We can't have a cat because the MAN is allergic to them.

  16. They look like twins, I know you miss them. Mom still talks about Dietzy sometimes like he is still here. She says Cotton has a tiny face, but the truf is that Dietzy had a big chubby face. Dad called today and said there are now four babies under the garden shed at the church next door, we are giving them directions to your house, ...do they need money to cross the border. stella rose

  17. Two beautiful kitties who had some long and wonderful lives. Mom has never had a kitty and doesn't think we would do well with one INSIDE the house. But we still love all our virtual kitty pals.

  24. Cats were always my first love, and I really should be "the crazy cat lady" instead of the dog one. But I know what you mean about cats. I cannot remember a time in my life when I didn't have a cat as part of it. I've no doubt one that needs you, will find its way to you!

  25. We're so sorry about Nin and Bagherra. I have had my Star and Saphira for almost 10 years, and I can't bare to know that one day they too will die. I still miss my Nico who died almost 2 years ago. We hope another cat enters your life when you're ready as they are amazing. Peace.

  28. Dear Lee and Phod's Lady,

We are down from three Cats to one Cat. We are also down from three Chickens to none Chickens. (A raccoon came and snacked last weekend.) Our people say that our house and our yard feel empty, but I do not think this is true! Ojo and I will just be busy and loud enough to make up for it! Also we are very good at getting under the feet. So I'm not sure why they're complaining.

However, we do hope a Cat finds you soon, because you would be a Very Good Place for a Cat to live. Our paws are crossed!

    Licks,
    Cobi
