Really - That is the Face I Get?

Since I have this blog, the camera is in my dogs' faces more than it would be if I didn't. Last time I checked my iPhoto I had something like 13 000 pictures, and you know at least half of those are my dogs. You would think after having thousands of pictures taken Hailey would be a good model, but no, she is not.

Here is an example from the recent photo shoot I did for Hailey's 5th birthday:

The fearful look, like I am doing something evil

The surprised look, like she has never seen the camera before

I am not sure what to call this other than ugly face

Bored Face

It took 14 shots to get one that was acceptable for her official birthday picture. You can view it HERE.

Phod on the other hand, was completely jealous about the attention Hailey was getting (and she wasn't getting treats until the pictures were done) and in 1 shot I got a new favourite:

Please come back Saturday for a very special celebration!

  1. I think ugly face is more devious face? More a 'If she doesn't get that camera outta my face soon I'm gonna eat it' face maybe?
Mum's phone is just FULL of pictures of me...and so it should be I thinks!

  3. We have the same problems here! Muffin will sit pretty butt Lily will not. We think you did an excellent job capturing the many faces of Hailey.

Phod, you could be a model! Ask for more bones.

    Hugs,

  11. Thank goodness for digital cameras! We have thousands of photos too, mostly of the doggies! More than half of them are no good. But sometimes you get lucky and capture the perfect doggie facial expression.

Brwwhahahahahahahahhahaha.... ahem... oh dear Hailey - mum doesn't realise that you were going through all the appropriate 'come hither' or 'go yonder' looks like Grace Jones!!! (Lady - don't blame for favouring the poochies!)

Phod - you are a total heart-throb!!!!!!!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  13. They call it "black dog syndrome" black faces don't show up well in photo's and tend not to show up expressions well - it is why black dogs are less likely to be adopted

  14. You were very much PATIENT with your Mom... we would have just taken a NAP in the middle of that session...

    OH BOY... a Celebration?????

  15. I feel your pain!! Zoe is the same way as Hailey!! It takes forever to get good pictures of her. Phoenix I can get a great picture in under 30 seconds and we are done!

  16. you are lucky that they look at the camera! Occasionally Dakota will pose, but usually if he sees me coming with the phone (that is what I use) he takes off! Same with Cody!

  18. If it weren't for the blog, we wouldn't have many photos, and we wouldn't go on blog-worthy adventures and stuff. So we're happy we blog.

  20. BOL!!!! OMD, I do the same thingie with Ma!! I gets all worried about what she has in her hand (I don't trust her..she's always doing 'things' to me that I don't like...like grooming, ear cleaning, paw trimming...I like to see her hands, so I can run under the table if need be) once I see it's the camera, I get all excited, cause I know treaties are soon to follow!
Oh, and Ma has thousands of pics of MOI, both good and bad, and she doesn't know why she doesn't delete the bad ones....
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥

  22. I love your photos, and recognize those looks from my own dogs! :-) Like you I take a lot of pictures and don't even use a fraction of what I've taken because so few turn out. How did we ever manage with film?

  23. Dear Ojo's cousin Lee,

I do not blame you. The thing called "camera" is a really big eye staring you right in the face. That is rude, no? And a little bit upsetting. I do not like looking at it either. But sometimes I will do it for my person. If there is bacon.

    Cobi

  24. If it's any consolation, 3/4 of the tens of thousands of photos on my iPhoto are of Beamer and he's the same. I can't get a decent picture of him no matter how hard I try! To make matter worse, he's all black. He shows up as a black smudge most of the time.
