Thankful Mischief Monday

Lady said because it is Thanksgiving, we need to be thankful before we share mischief (feel free to skip over this boring part and go right to the mischief).

Hailey: I am thankful for mischief,  all my new puzzle toys, getting lots of treats, great smells, humping Nin, that Baggy hasn't killed me yet, that Phod lets me be the boss and for my people (when they are being patient and understanding with me).

Zaphod: I am thankful for my loving people and my Hailey and my cats and getting brushed and always having a full belly, not having to slay dragons anymore and my ball. I think I am most thankful for my ball.

[Note: we refer to Phod's abusive past as the time he slayed dragons. We imagine he slayed the dragon and ran free and this is when he was found and rescued].

Nin: What is thankful?

Bagheera: I will be thankful when I want to be thankful, not when you tell me to be thankful. But so you will leave me alone, I am thankful I am still alive to enjoy the great sunbeams in this house. I am also thankful that the dogs and Nin are my minions.

The Lady: I am thankful for all the blessings in our lives. We have a great house, we have great jobs, we have great family and friends, and we have our health. Everyday I am thankful for my growing patience to help me deal with whatever life throws at me! I am always thankful for Blogville and all our Blogville friends too.

Happy Thanksgiving to all. Wishing you too much turkey and lots of love and laughter with friends and family.

Now the mischief.

Hailey: I would describe what happened as an over enthusiasm, not mischief.

See how far ahead Bar and Tendra got to go because
of Le and Phod's mischief.
Lady: It was mischief and bad behaviour. I was very upset by your behaviour. Here is what happened. 4 people and 4 dogs set off for a beautiful fall walk on Saturday. When we got to the end of our road, a woman was walking with her dog. This caused my 2 dogs (who have seen only like 5 dogs that were not the neighbours in the past year) to go crazy. Hailey was so out of control she was screaming and jumping and could not sit down. Phod was not as bad, he barked a bit, however, he wouldn't stop pulling and pulling. The strange dog past and our guests kept walking and we tried to use the strategies to help our dogs calm down. They failed. Our two were too wound up, so in the end, we turned around and came home. The dogs went in the house and Man and I planted the 2 trees and bush we had been given and the rest of our bulbs. This was because we needed a break from them.

Hailey: If you didn't want us to get so excited when we saw other dogs, you shouldn't have moved us to a place with so few friends to see on our walks. Or you should take us to the city to the dog park every day.  See this is clearly your fault. I call mischief on you!

Lady: Sigh! I will say that I was very proud of all 4 of you. We were able to go into the city for dinner and leave your 4 alone and you were all good. (The cats were safe and sound in the laundry room). I must admit, while your behaviour on Saturdays walk was not acceptable, for the most part you did an awesome job being hosts to 2 other dogs. You were also a good walker on Sunday. I am proud of you.

Hailey: Of course you are. I am awesome and I am glad you are finally appreciating my awesomeness. To my dog friends, was my behaviour mischief or just excitement?

  1. OMD all that excitement at seeing another furry furend. I don't do that but show me a cat and that is another story.Have a marvellous Monday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. You know the one technique we have always used and that works for to follow wolf rules. When your dog gets to excitable or out of control you place your dog on its side and hold it down..with one hand also hold the neck...this is a mimic of an alpha wolf teaching a younger one it's place in the pack. I taught this to both boys when they were pups and neither shows any interest in other dogs.

OMDs Your trees are already turning beautiful fall colors
    hugs madi your bfff

  4. IT was a case of EXCITEMENT... pure and simple. NO mischief AT ALL... at least on YOUR pawts.
WE think you handled it exactly RIGHT. THAT is YOUR territory and you were just keeping it SAFE.
THAT is OUR story and WE are sticking to it.

  5. Oh we just loved this post, and we got a good chuckle from the cats thankful version. We also act up..we as in maggie...when we see other dogs, mom says its cos she doesn't get us out into the real world enuf...i just say its cos maggie is a pain in the a****. I am always happy to see other four leggers.

  6. Oh boy, I can just imagine you all riling each other up until it was chaos!

    Wags to all,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  7. Bailey is the one at our house that doesn't handle other dogs very well. When Mom was taking him to training classes she always had to keep a close eye on him. But sounds like the rest of the visit went very well.

  8. Thanks for coming by.

Ps: we will pass the award on you gave us to other people tomorrow at 6.00 our time!

    Ragdoll Mommy~

  9. Hi Hi hi! Ojo here! Clearly that was dog excitement, not mischief. It sounds like it was a bit scary too, for both you and your lady!

Hey, it was Thanksgiving here too! I am most thankful for the Turkey. Yum. And also for my people, who got me away from "pound" and instead let me live in a house with good food every day and long walks in Forest or at Beach.

Happy Thanksgiving to your family too!!

  10. We see dogs all the time and Roxy still goes ballistic and lunges and barks....

    XXXOOO Daisy, Bella & Roxy

Hope you haven't ruined your chances for some of that Thanksgiving food.

  11. Happy Thanksgiving!!' It sounds like you have lots of wonderful things to be thankful for!! Hurray for good things! Enjoy the day!

    Your pal, Pip

  12. Hi Lee and Phod,

Happy Thanksgiving back! We had pawesome weather here too, which resulted in two very long Walks in our Forest. There were mushrooms, and leaves on the ground, and crisp smells. Ojo and I even did some Dog-zoomies together, which we only do when we're feeling particularly happy.

And then there was Turkey. Does it get any better than that?

Oh no, wait. I am sorry. You said that did not get the Turkey this year. Tell your Lady that is not fair, and she should go out and get you one. Or at least get a very large chicken.

Or bacon. Bacon would make up for anything.

I will go right now and tell my person to put some Turkey in the mail for you. It should be there soon.

  13. That's a pretty respectable amount of mischief. I have to say, your "thankful" portion was beautiful. So "kitty typical" of Nin and Baggy.

  14. I can't believe she said y'all had bad behaviors y'all were just excited. Y'all didn't want to be rude and pass by with your noses in the air.....humans they just don't get it.

    Aroo to you,

  15. My Lily screams at almost all 4-leggers
    Benny & Lily

  16. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. We think it was just excitement and no mischief to be found there.

    Millie & Walter
