Thankful Thursday - Celebrating Man!
The Man had a great birthday. He thanks you all for the warm wishes!
Man took the day off and took himself for breakfast and to the movies. Before dinner, our BFF Dylan came over for cake.

Lady and Man went to a El Salvadorian, Mexican Tapas place for dinner. It was excellent. Everything was handmade and fresh. They ate a lot of tacos! When they came home they found this.
Callie and her kids made the Man a card, and we were the stars!
Isn't the cartoon perfect? Isn't it perfect that we managed to star in the Man's day?
We are thankful to have such great neighbours.

Nature Friday - Dear Man - Day 6 and Snow Update
Dear Man,
It has been very rainy the past two days and a bit damp. We have been lucky that it has not been pouring when we need to go outside. Lady said were are lucky we aren't in Winnipeg, where they got a lot of snow. The forecast of 50-80 cm (20-32 inches) was wrong, but they still go at least 25 cm (10 inches) last Lady heard.
Yesterday, we got to go out and pup around the yard.
Let's take a look at how the yard is coming!
Let's look around quickly so we can get to fetch!
Still a spot in the front
Still a spot by the road
Still some in the backyard
Excuse me, I am hunting a chipmunk!

Love your very tired pups, Lee and Phod
Editor's Note: Lady is not going to make the man quarantine when he comes back. Covid is everywhere here and if she is going to get it, she is going to get it. While masking policies are lifting some where she works next week, she will be extra careful to not take it to her clients and will follow a stricter masking rules. We have a cupboard full of rapid tests, and Lady is still eligible for a PCR if she is concerned. Frankly, Lady would rather get it now, then in July when she travels with the Global Autism Project (to destinations unknown yet!). Also, it is Lady's fear of being trapped on a germ boat that had her not go with the Man in the first place. She is not ready to cruise. She hopes to be someday!

Trouble on a Tuesday
Dear pals,
Last week was a very stressful week for us.
It started on Sunday when Uncle Chris and Emma arrived. This isn't unusual. What was unusual was that on Monday, Emma stayed with us after the Lady left for work and Uncle Chris and the Man left and only Uncle Chris came back.

So the Man keeps recovering and the Lady keeps working/running the house. We hope in another week or so things will be more back to normal.

Happy Birthday to Our Man
Today's a special day,
A special day for the Man,
So Man dance and Man sing,
A birthday is a special thing!
Happy birthday, Happy birthday,
Happy birthday to the Man!
A few reasons we love our Man:
1. He goes on adventures with us and the Lady (more the Lady)

2. He is pretty good at playing!
3. He is great to snuggle with!
4. He will go outside even in the winter!
5. He is the one who gets to clean up our messes, and he does it well!
There are a million more reasons we love him, like the pancakes he makes us every Sunday, but we won't bore you all with this. Just know he is an awesome guy! We wish him a very special, special birthday!

Mischief Monday - It Wasn't Us, It Was a Cat
Lady was pretty sure the first mischief Monday after her time away, would be about our behaviour in jail. Just because we have a history of fence fighting and acting like jerks, doesn't mean that is how we always are. The jail warden said we were the best behaved we had ever been. We didn't fence fight at all (proving it wasn't us who ever started it), and we actually got to play with some other dogs. We may have ripped up one of our kennel blankets, but Lady said that is ok, because she buys old comforters at the thrift shop for our kennel blankets so we can do this.
The story of mischief goes back a few weeks before the Lady and Man left us for 87 million years. It was a Thursday morning. Lady noted as we left on our walk there were a lot of crows the tree at the end of the driveway. By a lot, she means over 20. It was Phod who alerted her that a cat (who will be referred to as Cedar going forward) was in the tree. When the people left for work about an hour later, Cedar was still in the tree. When the Man got home from work 87 million hours later, Cedar was still in the tree.
The Man assumed Cedar was stuck (she had been there for at least 11 hours) and did his best firefighter impression and took his new ladder and went into the field (which is actually owned by a neighbour who just cottages here) and rescued Cedar.
While Cedar seemed nervous at first, she was very cuddly and full of purrs. The Man brought Cedar to our garage and gave her food and water. Lady happened to be working late that night (she works late a lot) and the Man realized if she came home to a cat, we would have a cat. Lady confirms that unless the true owner was found, we would have had a cat. The timing was not good with the people about to abandon us for 87 million years. So the Man put us in the bedroom, Cedar in the bathroom, and armed with her picture, started a door to door search for her people.
His search lead him to the cat house down the road. People call it that because there can be up to 10 cats and several dogs outside this house at any time. They all look well cared for, and we aren't sure if they are all their cats, or if they have just become the house that cares for them. The nice cat Lady thought Cedar looked like one of theirs, so gave the Man a crate for him to bring Cedar home. When the Man arrived with Cedar, the cat Lady said 'this isn't ours' but agreed to take her and look for her owner or make sure she was cared for.
By the time the Lady got home, the cat was gone. We searched the house for a couple of days, sure the Man had a cat hidden somewhere. Our Lady was a little sad, but she understood the Man's choices.
The cat she called Cedar, because she was found in a pine tree and she didn't like the name Pine.

Taking Good Care of The Man
Dear Blogville,
My Man came home the other day smelling very funny. He smelt a bit like the Vet. I felt bad for him. The Lady smelt like the vet too, but she seemed fine. My Man did not seem so fine. I was very worried about him. I have made it my job to guard him. I guard him in bed. One of the best ways to guard him is to cuddle him. I am sure my cuddles are helping him feel better.
Sorry we haven't been around this week, but we have been busying helping the Man feel better.

Man and Weather Update
Thank you for all your wonderful comments yesterday Blogville, you rock! They were much appreciated as my day went like this:
Up at 5:30, walk the dogs, get ready, and the dogs and I are in the car by 6:40. Somewhere on the drive, Hailey gets out of her new harness and tries to get in the front seat with me. Finally arrive at day camp. To make my life a little less crazy, I made the decision to board the dogs for about 36 hours. It has kind of broken my heart to do it, but I know it is for the best. I arrive at work at 8:35. This is when Man calls to say his CT Scan is at 1, I need to come home. So I cancel with all my clients and drive the 62 km home. I had a little time to relax and pack our bag for the day (although I didn't pack enough food).
For this appointment : I had to drive him to hospital A (30 minutes away) to have the IV put in, to then drive another 25 minutes to hospital B to have the scan, then had to stop by Man's work and return the work pager as he shouldn't be the one on call this week, before driving back to hospital A to get the results. We waited 2.5 hours (after we were told the results were in) to be told he had colitis, unsure if viral or inflammatory bowel disease. At this point they order more blood work. 2.5 hours later, we are told the blood work is the same as Friday and Saturday, a colonoscopy has been ordered and should take place later this week, the IV is removed and we go home. We are now up to 20.5 hours of hospital time since Friday at 9:30 pm. Because we get a days notice for this next test, I hopefully will actually get to work tomorrow and pick the pups up so my dog guilt stops.
People have asked how much snow we have left. Well as of Sunday, this was our back deck:

We haven't used the BBQ for awhile. While it has been pretty darn cold in the mornings (close to -20C/4 F) the weather looks like it is going to start to warm up and the rain will help wash the snow away. (Temperatures are in Celsius)
