Guess Where We Went?

Let's go

Hurry up!

Almost there!

The beach is open!

First swim of the season!

Get that bumper!

It is here somewhere!

Got it!

Shake!

Go again and again and again

Check out the beach between swims.

Watch the boats go by.

What a great afternoon. Now time to go home.

WTF - by Zaphod

We had people over last week because we can do that now. At first I was scared but soon I enjoyed them,

One went into the bathroom and came out with . . .

Then the worst thing happened. They went to my beach without me. They were gone for 87 million hours. I wonder what they were doing?

I see there is a box with a dragon in it. It has been too cold for the dragon to come out yet. I don't think I will like it.

Mischief Monday - Lee at the Beach

We arrived home last Thursday after a long day in the car. Lady says we get the A+ traveller awards.
We had so much fun at the cottage that we are going to share more adventures from there with you this week.

While everyone knows Phod is a water dog, people may not know that Hailey is not really. She did wade in the water more than she usually does (maybe because there is just no beach!)

Her very favourite thing to do is bite the waves.

Here she is playing in the water.

Nothing is better after getting wet than a good roll in the dirt. I am sure Grammie appreciated wet, sandy dog in her house!

The Beach

For Canadian Thanksgiving, we went to visit the Lady's parents. Their front yard is Lake Huron. We had a great time playing on the beach.

Here is Hailey, in the brief moments she was allowed off leash (technically no dogs are allowed on the beach without a leash . . . when she went to the neighbours, she was back on leash).

While Precious did not make the journey, the Lady's parents have a lot of balls for their dog Tendra, so Phod had something to play with.

She may have been on leash, but Lee still had some fun bouncing in the water along the shore.

Lady's dad had Phod and Tendra on a rotating ball throwing system.

Tendra had a blue ball and Phod had an orange one. It amused Lady that they knew whose was whose and never went after the others.

A New Friend At The Beach

On Labour Day weekend, Lady's BFF came for a visit to celebrate her and Lady's 25 years of knowing each other. After dinner, the Ladies took Phod for a swim.

Phod and BFF

Phod met a new friend at the beach. An 8 month old, highly energetic lab named Beau. Beau's people said she was the most exhausting dog they have ever have. She has to go to daycare a couple times a week to try and tire her out! Lady said that was like her other dog!

Phod was very gentle and patient with this bouncing ball of energy. However, he did let her know that it was not acceptable to take his bumper out of his mouth when he was swimming. Beau's parents thought he told her off in a very gentlemanly way.

Phod swimming to get the bumper. The ear that is down is the one that gets infected easily.

While Phod had a great time, Hailey Bug was very put out that she did not get to go and play too!

Thankful Thursday - Our Beach

We are thankful for the little private beach down our road we have access to. In less than 5 minutes we can be here:

Our little beach

Our lake

More lake

Hailey is not a swimmer but she will wade in and she loves to eat the waves.

Phod on the other hand, loves, loves, loves swimming. He is our dock dog!

We are thankful to be able to spend parts of our summer in our own mini-beach paradise.

Another Special For Phod

Last week, instead of a special evening walk (we call them specials if only one dog is going) I took my boy to the lake. He loves, loves, loves to swim. Because I just had him, I could make a little video of him enjoying his special.

Home Again - by Lady

After a few days at my parents we have returned home. The drive there is about 9 hours one way and both pups did really well in the car. Phod still doesn't love it, but he wasn't sick in the car (we did give him his pill to help). He was sick when we got home. I think he may have drank too much water too quickly as he threw up water. (It was the hottest July 29 since 1892 at 34.3 C/94F + the humidex). Overall they were great! (We will see how Phod does today in the car as I have to take him for his annual check up later today . . . . . . . )

This is the name of the cottage
My parents live in Point Clark, Ontario. They live in a renovated and winterized version of a toll house that my great grandparents had moved to this sight in the 1930s. The "cottage", as I will forever call it, has been in the family for about 85 years. My grandmother, who is now 93, believes she was 8 or 9 when her parents got it.

I grew up near the cottage and have many fond summer memories (as it was only winterized 10 years ago and moved from true cottage to house).  I love sharing this place with my dogs.

Barley, he really thinks he is a lap dog

BEACH!

We are late in posting this as we had 10 hours of guests yesterday and just didn't have time to get to the computer. Family and friends came in what felt like the droves to see us! It was nice to catch up with everyone.

Even without all those visitors we have been really busy at the beach.

First there was some rolling in goose poop that had to happen.

And some shaking

And some swimming and playing fetch (Tendra left, Zaphod right)

And some running after the ball that Grandma threw.

Some more fetch (Zaphod and Tendra)

And of course waiting for snacks (Barley, Tendra and Zaphod)

The time at the beach is lots of fun!
