Thankful Thursday - Field Walks Return

The simple things in life are keeping us smiling during these difficult times. Now that the grass is longer and the weather a bit drier we are back to field walks. Don't worry, we have meds to keep us safe from tics and Lady and Man check us for them. In the 10 years out here, we have seen one dead tic in the bathroom.

We had not been for a walk to the back of the field since the derecho. Lady was sad to see her favourite tree, the one with the face, was damaged. As you can see, there was so much damage, followed by not great weather that it isn't all cleaned up yet, in spite the fact, especially on weekends, the hills are alive with the sound of chainsaws.

There were other trees and tree branches down in places too.

Phod made Lady laugh a lot when instead of going around one tree (there was plenty of room), he walked down the trunk!

Hailey found her inner Tigger and bounced through the field. Thrilled to be in it completely off leash!

We are thankful to our wonderful neighbours the Q's for sharing their field with us!

Nature Friday - Warm Enough To Walk

Thanks to Rosy for organizing this event.

Last Sunday, we had a break in the extreme cold and went for a nice walk around our private road.

There is always so much to smell on winter walks and tracks to follow.

This is the apple tree at the end of our driveway the deer love

This is our road looking toward the lake

Here is a deer run through the bush. Those are fun to follow because they lead to piles of deer poop.

Here is Hailey tracking novel people on the lake!

We figured it was safe to walk on the lake if people could snowmobile on it!

We didn't go to far as the lake scares the Lady. You can see our dock on shore.

Lee loved this walk.

Proof Lady was brave and went on the lake

We hope you enjoyed another stroll through the winter with us!

Why Phod Ended Up In The Tub

We are very lucky that our neighbours, who own all the bush behind our house, allow us to use their trails. On the weekend we went for a hike. In places the trail was very muddy. In places it was frozen and snowy.   Turns out Phod really loves to walk in the mud so that is why he needed a tubby.

On our walk we crossed a creek.

We also walked by the neighbour's sugar bush. The blue cords are running the sap into the big blue barrels. They will take these back to their house and boil it. They will likely do this outside, we haven't asked. Next time we see Callie's people we will ask. Our province of Quebec produces 91% of Canada's maple syrup. Canada supplies the world with 75% of the world with maple syrup.

It was a great walk but Lady said for now we can only do it when we have time for a bath!
