Happy Birthday Lady

Today our Lady celebrates her 48th ride around the sun. It is a really slow ride, so we see why the theme parks haven't picked it up.

To celebrate, she made us take selfies with her before she and the Man went to the Opera on Saturday night. Forced selfies and then being abandoned - not a great day for us, but apparently it is all about her!

Happy birthday to our Lady, who on a good day, we would give a solid B for her efforts as our Lady.

Celebrating Lady

How Lady still feels about parties

Today we celebrate our Lady as she turns 315 or 45!
It is not the birthday she was expecting.
No big birthday trip as what usually happens on the 5s in our house.
Instead, she got an office chair and bonus time with us (really what more could she want!)

Happy Birthday to our Lady!

My Snuggly Girl

As I have talked about before, one of the side effects of Hailey not being on Prozac, is she is much cuddlier. It may also be that we keep our house cool 18C/64F (warmer if the fireplaces is on). We are currently storing our patio couch in the dining room. We have space in the garage, but fear the mice will get into it (and we have had signs of mice for 2 months now). Lee and I have been spending a lot of time reading on this couch.

She loves to hold on with her front paws

Holding and sleeping
Once she falls asleep I will try not to move for as long as possible!

Nature Friday - Our 'Hood

Happy Winter Solstice! This is one of the most exciting days here as we know the days are now starting to get longer!

Lady has a new thing that on the weekends Man is going to join us for a walk. He does not walk with us during the week (he is not usually up when we venture out between 5 and 6 am).  She says her steps have fallen off a little since her FitBit died and while she works out every day (strength training 2 days a week and yoga 5), she needs to be getting more walking in as she is going to be hiking in Bryce Canyon in May.

At any rate, so far we are 1/1 for pack weekend walks. Sunday was a lovely day with the temperature around freezing and so much sun.  Since the Man was with us, Lady was able to take pictures (she can't do that while she has both of us - we can't imagine why!

Here we are walking down our the main road we walk down ever morning.

Here are Man and Phod turning off the main road to Lee's favourite road.

Here is some bush on favourite road. There are often deer tracks coming through it up to the road, so lots of good sniffs!

This is looking across the field on favourite road to our house.

Can you find our house now? Lady says she doesn't get to appreciate this view most mornings now since it is soooooo dark.

Here are the boys heading back up favourite road towards home.

We hope you enjoyed seeing some of the nature around our house.

PANIC!

Yesterday was the Lady's work at home day. She was happily sitting at her computer chatting with a colleague in Georgetown, Grand Cayman (Lady consults there) when her computer shut itself off. Lady knew the battery was getting low but apparently hadn't plugged it in properly so it died. She messaged her colleague on her phone and waited a few minutes. The computer would not restart. Lady knew in her heart, her faithful old Mac that had a lot of issues (like keys that didn't work and applications that hardly opened) was on its last legs but she kept hoping it had more life in it.

After calling support and not getting help, Lady panicked (yep she nearly lost her mind but then pulled herself together) packed up and drove the 45 minutes to the Apple Store. Without a computer she couldn't work. However, she was very thankful she had just updated her computer on Sunday so if all else failed she would only lose 2 and a bit days of work.

The new baby
When she got to the store she was told there was a 2 hour wait. While she was chatting with the guy who works there named Ben, he said given how old her computer was there wouldn't be much they could do. Because it was vintage (aka 2011) they no longer have the parts to fix it. Lady got Ben to show her the comparable new ones. She went and talked to the Man and they decided that it was time to just replace the old computer. The old computer keeps having issues and again, without a computer Lady can't do her whole job. So Lady went back and talked to Ben and bought herself a new Mac Book Pro.

While she was doing this, the Genius , Matt, came to look at the old computer. He took it to the back and the 10 minutes he said he needed were really like 30. He was able to do something to get it going (something about resetting it and removing the battery). He told Lady she should never turn it off again until she was sure she had everything off of it.

A much poorer Lady drove home with a lovely new computer and a computer that she could get all her files off of.

Instead of getting any of the work she wanted to get done, she spent the rest of the day setting up her new computer. She got her 13 000 work files transferred to it. She hasn't taken on the pictures yet and realized after her purchase she doesn't know how to get pictures off her camera onto the new computer because there is no slot for the card. She hopes she can find the USB cord for it. (Her camera is from like 2007 so before they were Internet connected).

We think this horrible computer issue has made all of our behaviours look good! Lady will fill you in on what we have been up to shortly!

Lady is now behind on work and traveling for it so if we aren't around much the next week or so, you know why. We will try to visit a little (now we have a good computer it may be easier!)

The Biggest Mischief Celebrates

The biggest mischief maker in our house, the Lady, is celebrating another year of old!  If you assume she is a medium size human then she is turning 6 in dog years today.

As always, she has made this milestone an event (it included getting a tattoo, doing an aerial course and zip lining, eating out, going shopping), all things that didn't include us.

In spite of being left out of the party we wish our Lady a very Happy Birthday!

Lady's first birthday. It is the same look she has now if she was to have a  traditional party.

Mischief On A Tuesday

On our long walk on Saturday, Hailey found some poop on the side of the road to roll in. She didn't enjoy the clean up that followed when we got home.

Phod continues to blow his coat. After 10 minutes of brushing, it looked like it had snowed!

Lady has not allowed us to visit you all like we (and she) would like. With work and getting ready for the holidays she is feeling like there aren't enough hours in a day. Also, with the new blogger lay out, our computer won't let us always access our reading list! Sigh! We are trying to read more than we comment. Know we are thinking about you all!
