Lady and Man play recreational pickleball. They have been playing with one group for about 7 months and have gotten to know some people. Last week, one of the women, came up to Lady and said 'you have inspired us to get a dog. We go get her tomorrow.' When asked how she had inspired them, the woman said because Lady is always talking about us, it made them want a dog. So Molly, an 8 month old mini poodle something mix (Lady got too distracted looking at pictures of her cute face to remember the mix), will have been in a new home for about a week when you read this. This retired couple (the woman was a nurse) is going to love her and take such good care of her. Lady says her work is now done. She helped one deserving dog find a loving home.
Callie, at lunch. She loves sticks. |
Lady and Man continue to take Callie out over lunch two times a week. We don't mind her coming to play. Last week, Lady and Man also sat with the two youngest when they made it home before a parent. They are very happy to do this. While playing a game of picture charades, and playing ball with Callie, little Milo kept attacking Lady. She loved it!
Speaking of helping others, please join us Saturday!
Now that it is getting cooler, sometimes I find the floor a bit too cold and prefer to sit on the settee. The problem is, it can be so hard to get everything arranged just how I want it.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Hi pals,
We are happy to report, this week's mischief doesn't go to us. It is about a cat, Lady calls Slinky Malinki (names after storybook cat a client loves so much, Lady can recite most of it) or Jasper 2 (because he looks just like the neighbours angel Jasper).
Almost every day, you can find him here:

Last weekend, Lady and Dylan (Callie's boy), brought the trail camera out of the field, home. The camera had been on an apple tree. Today we share with you, a doe's guide to eating an apple.

Dear pals,
Oh how we have missed you! We are hoping by the time you read this Lady will have done some catching up with all of you. Even when she is not able to drop by virtually regularly, she is often thinking of you and wondering how you all are.
On the way home from camp Lee went under the seat cover. |
Lady says work has been busy. Adjusting to the September schedule is always something and every year she says she is going to take September off, and instead, she stays for the craziness.
Lady and Man had a great 36 hours away. Sir Elton John was worth it. We were fine at camp. We were caught napping in a room full of other dogs at pick up, so it is hard for us to say we were totally mistreated.
An angry Phod |
Lady says she is also adjusting to referring to the former Prince Charles as King Charles, and has been driving everyone insane going around singing God save the King. The King is the Head of State for Canada. Lady has no real feelings about living in a constitutional monarchy. She does follow the royals some out of curiosity. She is actually more interested in learning that she is the 26th great-granddaughter of King John, made very famous in Disney's Robin Hood.
Lady volunteered her and Man to take Callie out on the days Callie's Lady has to work in the city now. So 2 days a week, we spend lunch with Callie. Lady says it lets her pretend she has 3 dogs.
Also, if Milo their kitten comes out, she gets some Milo time. He hasn't figured out he can run away from her yet. So she is also pretending she has a kitten.
Life keeps moving on here and we are really all good, just settling back to busy times.
Looking forward to being around more.
Lee, Phod and Lady
We'd be back from our journey across the seven seas to bring you, Talk Like a Pirate Day!
Aye me mateys, we may sailing the seven seas, but thought we would drop by to remind you all, Monday, September 19 is talk like a pirate day!
We hope you can join us for tales of booty and lots of ale!
Thanks Rosy for hosting this event.
As regular readers will know, Lady is obsessed with her sunflowers. They are one of her joy bringers.
This is her second year growing them (and now she will grow them forever as they are so easy). However, they have had a rough summer. You see, August was the rainiest August since 1893. Even last weekend, we had a lot of storms with intense rain. The sunflowers have not done great in this rain. Some have snapped, some have just been uprooted. Man and Lady have done their best to save what they can. Those they couldn't, Lady cut and brought inside so she can at least enjoy them.

Dear pals,
Callie got a little brother, a cat named Milo.
The picture Callie's mom sent our Lady |
Lady and Man went over to meet Milo the other day. While they were there, for no good reason, the power went out. So yes, we were alone in the house in the dark while they were loving a kitten.
The Man holding little Milo |
Milo will eventually become and indoor/outdoor cat. We had a brief meeting of him through the screen door. Phod was scared of the hissing and Lee sadly couldn't see him in the dusk light as he was not moving. Lady and Man say, when he is bigger and we may run into him more, we will be more properly introduced.
your pals, 2 angry dogs
Dear pals,
My people were horrible this week. I was left alone not once but twice last week.
Maybe if I keep my eyes closed I can pretend it never happened |
The first was a work day. On Wednesday, for the first time since March 13, 2020 (and one time to go get his chair in there), the Man had to go into the city for a work event (i.e. team lunch). The Man hadn't even met some of his coworkers in person before. This happened on a day Lady was in the city so we were alone for about 87 million hours (Lady says it was 4). Then on Saturday, the people had tickets to the musical Anastasia and the Man needed a new computer and they needed groceries so we were alone for another 87 million hours (Lady says it was just over 6 hours). And a storm rolled in while they were away, both times!
We tried very hard to be good, but some very big mouse came in and had an accident on the floor both days. (Lady says it looks like someone was trying to hold it but couldn't), and Hailey got scared and rubbed her nose until it bled. However, no distraction occurred.
This week is going to be even worse. We have to spend a night at camp as the people are going out of town to see Sir Elton John. I don't know who that is, but I can't imagine he is more impressive than us.
Lady said to tell you all she is sorry for not visiting more. Work is something and she is working really hard to make sure she gets lots of screen free time daily. She is doing her best.
Your friend the abandoned Phod
Thanks to Rosy for hosting this event. While we still have lots of fun bird pictures to share from when the camera was at the feeders, Lady thought it would be fun to share what was captured after she moved the camera to the front yard.
