Mischief Monday - The Wrong Cat - by Styx

 Hi friends, hi friends,

The most exciting thing happened the other day. So exciting.

It started off not exciting. As mentioned, Lady and Man have wanted to help Lanie. The SPCA would not lend them a trap so they did what any sane person would do, they asked Amazon to bring them one.

They decided to test it, and guess what, I got to be the one to test it! I did not like it and they didn't keep me in it long and I did not fully cooperate because I didn't set it off.

I did make them think it would work, so they set it up outside. They put it in a place they did not think any creature but a cat and maybe a raccoon could get it.

Sunday night around 8:30, Lady looked out, and said "Man, we have a skunk."

Yep, the skunk was smarter than the people and got itself caught.

I will keep this part short, but I am happy to report the Lady and Man were able to cover the cage, move the cage, open the cage, and the skunk ran away without spraying anyone.

For the record, Lady would have been happy to keep the skunk if it wasn't smelly. But we know he or shee is happier in the wild.

That was a very big adventure.

Tomorrow Tigris will continue our story.

Nature Friday - Nature TV by Styxy

 Hi friends, hi friends,

I had the best episode of Nature TV on the weekend. Let me tell you about it.

First there were the deer.

Then there was Callie's cat Cinder hunting

Cinder walked away with his prize.

Now we do love all creatures here - Lady and Man were glad this mouse didn't get into our house. We have had to Uber 3 so far this year, and it hasn't been cold.

I hope you enjoyed this episode of Nature TV, sponsored by Rosy and Sunny.

Your pal and host, Styxy

Tuesdays with Tigris - Still Not My Thing

 Dear reader,

Styx mentioned some of the new things Lady got recently from an online auction. One of the things she got was a gently used puzzle. This is supposed to be a very easy one.

I did more than I usually do. I looked at it, I smelt the treats, but nope, I refused to participate. Queens don't work for treats.

Styxy doesn't seem to hate it.

Mischief Monday - Ooops, Wrong Friend

 Hi friends, hi friends,

My friend Jack-O-Lanie has been around a lot, I have so much to tell you about her. Sometimes she comes and rubs up against the door when I am standing there. Lady and Man have tried to encourage her to come in, but she is not having anything to do with that. Lady was talking to Callie's people, and they call her Simone, and they have been feeding her for like a year. They have not seen her since she started hanging out with me.  So Lady and Man have kind of stolen their outdoor cat.

It was recently Prime day - look what I got!

Lady looked into a program at the SPCA that let's you borrow a trap, and for a small fee with vet feral cats and you can release them. The SPCA said Lanie doesn't qualify, and wouldn't lend Man a trap so Lady and Man could just do this and take her to our vet. So Lady and Man have ordered a trap. We will keep you posted on how this plays out. Lady and Man have to talk to our vet on Monday about how they may get her in etc. If she can't be an indoor cat, she should at least be spayed and given shots etc.  Then Lady and Man will look at getting her an outdoor enclosure.

The SPCA also told Lady to not feed outdoor cats, because she could start a colony. Lady laughed because she has no problem being a crazy cat Lady.

At any rate, they have had to stop feeding her at the door because the wrong friend found the food.  I was the one who told my people we had the wrong visiter.

We had to let him eat before moving it.

Don't worry, no one was sprayed and Lady refilled and put Lanie's food up high.

That is the mischief going on here.

Nature Friday - With Tigris

 Dear reader,

I decided it was my turn to do a nature Friday. Styx acts like he is the only one who cares about nature. I care too. I just am don't go as crazy about it. If we are honest, I am probably going to be a better hunter.

Anyways, it is autumn. The days are getting short, meaning you really have to enjoy the sun puddles while they are out.

Here are some pictures Lady took on Thanskgiving.

Tuesdays with Tigris - Trespasser

 Hello readers,

The Lady is insisting I start by apologizing on her behalf for not being a good friend. She has been busy with work and life and getting ready for the winter hibernation. Don't worry, Styx and I are getting lots of love and clearly, the Thanksgiving pictures are proof she may not be busy enough. At any rate, she hopes to slow down in November.

The biggest problem we have had and something that has taken up too much of her time, is a trespasser. This starving cat showed up last week. Lady decided she was going to feed it. Lady decided she is going to try and rescue her. Man is ok with this. He is supposed to be the one to stop her from these sorts of silly things.

Styx talking to the new cat

Lady is giving our food to this stranger. I don't think I like it.

Me checking to make sure my boy is ok

Lady and Man had named her Jack-o-lantern, because they forgot tortoiseshell cats were girls (how dump of them, this is what I am dealing with). So she is now Jack-o-Lanie. If Lady captures her, she may get another name. Lady has posted her on the lost and found page on Facebook. She does done some research into working with the SPCA to get her help. For now, she is feeding her and trying to get her to trust her.

The real problem with this is she is giving her all the food she wants, while I am on a diet. Also, when she has the door open, we must hang out in the bathroom. While I don't want Lanie to starve, I don't really like this and hope this is a phase and Lanie finds a great home somewhere far, far way.

Happy Thanksgiving

We would be more thankful for the Lady and Man if there were not hats involved

Nature Friday - Autumn Is Flying By - Styx

 hi friends, hi friends!

Autumn is just flying by. The days are getting so short. It is hard to find good sun. I have discovered the Lady's office window has the best morning sun.

While I am up there I can watch the wildlife.

There are lots of turkeys around. They should run as it is Thanksgiving weekend here.

We love the deer!

Lady took her hill picture. The colours are not as vibrant as some years.

yes that is a speed bump. People drive dangerously on our little private road. This is to slow them down.

Must get back to my fall patrol.

Tuesdays with Tigris - New Things

 Dear reader,

I am not sure that you are aware that the Lady here is addicted to supporting animal rescues and animal charities. One way she does this is to get involved with online silent auctions. She loves the ones in the fall where she starts to buy her Christmas gifts.

She got a little crazy with one for the Hollibell Foundation,  an organization who provides free and low cost spay and neuter to pet owners and strays.

I guess I shouldn't complain because besides some gifts for people, she got us lots of new things in a couple gift baskets for us.

Here I am enjoying a new nip toy.

Here I am under a nip blanket playing with a new feather toy.

I am a very good hunter.

Checking out one of the two new beds. Our first cat beds. Lady is guessing we won't use them.

The new things are nice and fun, and we are glad our Lady is able to help other animals.

Mischief Monday - Invasion -by Styx

 Hi friends, hi friends,

We had an invasion on the weekend. Callie came over. A dog was in our house, a dog, a dog! Fortunately, she liked being here less than we liked her here, so it was only for a short period of time.

Me thinking about pouncing Callie

Callie

But there was a bad thing about this too. This meant Lady and Man were gone more than I would have liked. You see, Lady and Man were taking care of Callie and her cats for the weekend. They, especially Lady went next door a lot.  They didn't want Callie to be alone for too long at a time.

Lady and Callie going for a morning walk

Lady and Cinder - yes when Lady walks at dawn/dusk she wears a safety vest

Lady giving Callie some love and Callie gave her kisses!

I don't think I liked how much of Lady's attention was given to other animals. I was so mad, I even slept at her feet for the first time.

I hope we don't have to share Lady with Callie and her cats any time soon.

your friend, Styx

Nature Friday - Excitement From The Window - by Styx

 Hi friends, hi friends,

There has been so much nature at my windows. Lady was worried I may not be getting enough stimulation because she has had a very busy work month, and not been doing as much play time, but don't worry, your pal Styxy is getting a lot of activity, even if it is from his window!

I was just a little jealous this week seeing the neighbour cats chasing chipmunks, climbing trees and chasing the turkeys.

Then Lady told me that they had a bat encounter recently and all had to go get updated rabies shots, and I thought, maybe inside is a little better. (The bat was on their deck during the day, that was what was the most concerning).

There have been deer around too. Lady took these on a walk.

And while I, Styxy think the wildlife is the most exciting, Lady has convinced me to share some pictures of pretty autumn colours. So here is boring nature.

This is the tree Angels Lee and Phod posed at

I hope you enjoyed some of the fall. Now back to my window, I don't want to miss anything.
