Trouble on a Tuesday - A Dramatic Recreation

Why is there a very tired, wet dog, on my office floor (where she never sleeps)?

The scene: A very rainy Tuesday afternoon, when both Lady and Man are at home.

Lady had 6 minutes between meetings to put a Hailey dog, who needed to do her business, out.

Hailey, after doing her business, decided to run away.

Lady had to come back into the house to log into the meeting.

Lady texted Man, who was also in a meeting.

Man grumpily left his meeting to go outside in the pouring rain.

Lady could here Hailey barking.

Man was able to rather quickly get her back into the house.

It seems, she got a scent of a groundhog, and cornered it under a pallet of bricks. The groundhog was hissing and the Hailey was barking.

While she was not happy to come back in, she was very proud of herself for her wonderful hunting. It only would have been better if she could have deaded the hog.

Mischief Monday - The Great Hunter - by Lee

 Dear pals,

As you know, I am a great hunter. I have caught some things in my life when given the opportunity.

Now that I am the best girl in the world, and getting to be off leash some, I had the opportunity to hunt.

One of the things I always do, is check out my hole. The peeps and I have agreed we can have one hole in the yard. Lady says in the fall, when it isn't so surrounded by bush she will take a picture to show how big it is. I started this hole years ago in my tunnelling efforts to see Easy and have continued it for Phenny and Nelly. I happened to be inspecting said hole (as I have Phod doing most of the work) when an evil mole showed up. Clearly, I can't have another creature in the hole, so I made short work of him.

Semi-graphic picture to follow

While the people were not thrilled with my amazing hunting abilities, they were very happy I dropped it right away. They did a Google search to see if I was going to get sick from this, but since my rabies shots are up to date, I should be ok!

I was very proud of my great skill and will be dreaming about it for some time.

A very happy Hailey Bug

Mischief Monday - Hunting

Recently every time we go out, the dogs have been particularly interested in sniffing the front flower bed.

The other day, the Man took the pups out and Hailey went fully into hunting mode and pounced.

Here is a dramatic recreation:

The little vole got away. I am sure my girl was very disappointed.

We have a neighbour's cat and a fox also spotted hunting a lot in yard, so we will see if the little vole and mice survive!

Pounce!

After a warm bath I am all snuggled reading in my bed, and I hear it.
The Fly!
I hope that Lee who has been chasing bunnies in her dream does not, but she does. Slowly she stalks her way up the bed, feet on the headboard, looking into the light at the fly. She snaps at it. She noses it. The fly leaves the light and tries to hide in a dark corner. Lee leaps over me as she is on the hunt. The fly comes back to the light and I sit up just fast enough to not get jumped on as Lee pounces on her pray. Again after snapping, the fly heads to the dark side of the room. Lee is after it. I see the fly on the wall. I close my book, wind up and smack! The fly falls to the ground. Lee pounces again on the fly and then eats it. She then settles herself back on the bed and I return to my book, both happy that the house is once again safe.
