More Practicing - by Hailey

Last Saturday, we had to practice going in the car again. This time we had to go in the car for an hour. Phod had breakfast first, and he was sick in the car. Eating 1.5 hours before going in the car doesn't work for him. Last time we went in the car about 6 hours after he ate and he was fine. He was a gentleman and was sick on the towel Lady put down for him, so clean up was very easy. Lady says before we leave for BAR on the traveling days Phod won't have breakfast.

Other than that, Phod and I did a wonderful job at sharing the backseat. He does take up a lot, but I will forgive him.

We were so excited to be at the park! We went to a park called Bruce Pit. It is a huge area, former sand pit, with a fence around the edge to keep us in. It was surprisingly not busy for the Saturday of the long weekend.

We had a great time. We:

ran,

That is us in the middle of the picture

sat for cookies (or at least I did),

Did I mention cousin Emma met us there? You can see her paws in this picture

rolled in stinky things,

Emma waiting for me to move so she can roll

ran some more,

I love to run. Lady says I could run at home if I was as good there as I was at the park

found mud to play in,

Later Phod rolled in dirt to cool down!

begged for treats,

Cousin Emma begged for our treats a lot, so did a lot of dogs we didn't know. Beef lung is popular at the park
sniffed things,

There was so much pee mail to read, it was crazy
 left pee mail,

explored,

I always led, Phod and Emma followed me

made friends,

There was a great Dane group walking, we met a lot of them. They are big so I let them sniff me.

and practiced our tricks.

Man made us do table at the park

After about an hour and ten minutes of doing the park, we were tired and really ready to go home. Lady and Man said we were perfect and we can go again. It is the first time in a long time that I didn't end up on leash. Lady says that is because she had beef lung in her bag (along with water) and I knew it.

It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

Tasty Tuesday - Nutram 30-Day Optimum Transition Challenge - Wrap Up

Today wraps up our 30 Day Nutram Optimum Transition Challenge.

"Give us more!"

To recap, Nutram is a Canadian made food. It is available for both dogs and cats in 36 countries.

For this challenge our dogs tried formula T-26, Totally Grain Free Lamb & Legume Natural Dog Food. We picked this formula after completing Nutram's easy to use "your  Nutram number".

What we loved:
-Both dogs were really excited at meal time, during the entire month. It was especially noticeable for Zaphod who is not as food motivated and doesn't show excitement at meal times.

Phod licked his bowl clean every night

-Both dogs had healthy poops while on it.
-Both dogs had the energy to run and play.
-I love that it is a Canadian company.
-I love that each ingredient is something I can read and understand.
-I love that it was easy to find a relator who will supply it from the Nutrum site. (There is one near my work).

What we didn't love:
-We honestly can't think of anything.

Nutram is definitely a food that can be part  of a healthy lifestyle for Hailey and Zaphod.

Thank you Nutram for allowing us to participate in this yummy challenge. We loved it. We give you 8 paws up!
Hailey never left a piece!

Sepia Saturday - Still Use It

Even though she keeps peeing on it, and washing has made it very lumpy, Hailey still loves this bed. I don't think it will last much longer because she has decided it is her indoor toilet. (She goes through phases like this)

Flower Friday

We are thrilled to report we have some flowers in the yard, flowers in the yard! YAY!

Here is the one and only daffodil that is is in the yard.

Nature has provided us with trilliums. There are not as many as last year, but there are a few around. This one is out front by a tree that blew over.

Life With Three

For the weekend my parents and their dog Tendra were in town. (Tendra - last 3 letters of my name and  the last three of my sister's name).  Tendra is 7.5 years old.

We are very lucky that the dogs all get along very well. Phod always has to remind Tendra it is his house, but once that is done they completely settle in. Tendra stays on her routine (eating at different times and demanding to eat at then, demanding her kongs and chews at particular times) and our pups stay on theirs. There is no fighting. Phod did try and get Tendra to play tug, but she wasn't in it. Tendra and Phod each take their own ball out and there are no issues with sharing. Really having Tendra visit isn't any different than having our two.

It was nice to have her visit!

Tasty Tuesday - Nutram's 30-day Optimum Transition Challenge - Post Three

Look at the food in the bucket
The pups have now been eating Nutram for 23 days. The past 2 weeks or so, after completing the 10 day transition to Nutram, it has been the pups exclusive food.

The day I changed the bucket from the old food to the new one was super exciting. Perhaps it was made even more exciting by the fact I dropped a few pieces. One of my favourite features of the bag is the seal. I could have the bag on the floor for a few minutes without having to worry about Hailey getting her head in it, as well as it keeps the food fresher longer!

What I have noticed:
-The dogs are still very, very excited to eat. Hailey has been so focused on her food this past weekend, she stepped in the extra water bowl every time! Zaphod continues beg and be really excited to eat!

-Zaphod has added a poop to his day. He has gone from a 3 a day pooper, to usually a 4 a day one. Hailey continues to poop one or two times per day.

-Both dogs are having larger, poops.

-Both dogs seem happy and healthy.

Can we have some now?
Hey that looks like me on the bag!

We have another week before we wrap up the challenge, so be sure to come by next week for our final thoughts on this product.

There are lots of places you can find out more about Nutram:

Lady may like the bag seal, but I don't, I can't get extra food!

Mischief Monday - It Happened

Lady's worst fear came true on the morning of Friday the 13th. Ok, not her worst fear, but one of her many, many, many, many fears.

It happened like this - without thinking, she opened the garage door, Hailey screamed and Phod ran. Lazarus the groundhog was not only out of his hole, he was way, way, way out of his hole.

The poor little guy ran as fast as he could, with Phod on his heels, Hailey screaming and the Lady yelling at Phod to stop and for the groundhog to run. About 1 foot from the groundhogs hole, Phod picked him up by the back end. Lady yelled to drop it, and Phod put the squirming groundhog down and it dove into the hole.

A careful inspection of Zaphod showed no injuries.

We haven't seen Lazarus since. We don't know how seriously he was injured. Phod did not appear to be rough with the groundhog, he didn't shake him or anything. We will continue to watch for him.

In the meantime, Phod always goes out on leash until Lady has inspected to make sure there is no wildlife around. If there isn't he can be off!

I would never do such a thing, look at how sweet I am!

See Beautiful

I came across this picture in my iPhoto this week. It is from a few years ago, but I think it is one of the most beautiful skies I have ever seen.

Today we are joining Blogville in a celebration of Forrest's's life. We didn't know him very well, but we are always sad to hear the loss of a beloved friend.

We wave for Forrest!

Mischief Monday - She Lied - by Hailey and the Lady

Hailey will be in pink
Lady will be in orange

Don't tell Hailey, Maggie and I
went to the park!
On Thursday, Lady, you left early for work and said "see you tonight". You lied. We didn't see you that night, or the next one. You were gone for 3 whole days!

It wasn't really a lie, I thought I would be home on Thursday but at 4:30 Aunt C asked if I could come over. I was on Maggie patrol for when Troy arrived.

Did you have a suitcase ready?

Yes, I had a suitcase in the car for about a week, just in case.

So you knew you may not be home some night?

Yes, I knew that was a possibility. But I didn't know when. Babies come when they want. If I had known I would have packed more food. This diet away from the house is hard.

I still believe you lied and then you had the audacity to come home smelling not just like baby, and toddler, but like cat.
Maggie and Panda

I was taking care of your cat cousins Lupul and Panda, of course I smelt like cat.

I am still angry you lied and were gone for 87 million years. The Man doesn't cater to my routine like you do. I hope you got my message that I was angry.

Peeing on one of your beds does send a clear message.

And what is with the weather? Why did you make it snow?

Hailey, I have nothing to do with the weather, but completely understand why you are angry with it! It was shorts weather yesterday and snow today. Now that Troy is here, I won't be called away again.

Well you have some making up for lying to do. Let's start with extra treats and a belly rub.
