More Snowshoeing! by Phod

Dear pals,

I got to go snowshoeing again with Lady. As Lee mentioned she is on strict rest, so this means no snowshoeing. We got another 6-7 inches (15-20 cm) Thursday, so Friday, she shut down her computer early and we went.

It was a fun walk. In places on the hills, in her snowshoes, she sunk to her knees and I had to swim! On the trails, it was more ankle deep. It was an excellent day for a snowshoe! (It was about -8C/17F)

Today we also send Rosy and Sunny and their people all our love, as they had to say goodbye to a very good dog, Jakey, yesterday. Jakey was one of the first dogs we met in Blogville and Lady and Man met him in the furs. We are remembering him fondly. Run free sweet friend.

Phod and The Poop

On the weekend, Man went to give the Phod some pets and discovered something dried onto his head near his ear and by his collar.

An inspection discovered it was poop!

Lady then had the pleasure of spending the next 15 minutes brushing and wiping and washing it out of his fur. The Man thought he should have a full bath, but Lady said no as that is a huge ordeal. (Phod is terrified of baths and it ends with everyone and everything in the bathroom getting wet!) She did threaten him with one next time.

After it was over, Phod sulked by the front door. Lady is sure he won't remember how much he disliked this in the future so he won't do it again.

This is Phod's favourite inside squeaky ball, that he only ever wants to play with when we both sit down to watch TV.

Goofy Boy

Phod has been full of beans this past week. He has been very playful. The other day he wanted into the toy box and then spent time with his head in it. What a silly boy! 

Toys, Toys, Toys

Phod and Lee are happy to have a few toys out. Cousin Emma (who is with us for a week) wants them all out. It drives me crazy to have all the toys out. I have a video of her being crazy with the toy box, but it won't let me upload it here so imagine a little girl dragging a toy box around! 

Once the toys are out, Phod doesn't like to share. He has developed a very passive way to keep all the toys to himself.

Poor Phod

First: People asked what was up with Phod's ears. It seems my boy has some sort of environmental allergies as he is getting gunky and itchy ears. It is not in deep so it is not an infection. As the kennel didn't clean them, they got very dirty looking and itchy. We have them almost all cleared up again.

Second: Phod's long weekend did not get off to a good start. On Friday night, when we got home from work we took the pups out to play. Phod 'twisted' his ankle while playing.

"Really Man, it is ok, I can still play ball."

"Do you really have to check it?"

Limping back to the house

It didn't seen serious enough to rush to the vet so we iced it and rested it for the weekend, neither are things he enjoyed.

"I hate this."

"It is fine, I can totally play ball."

While he was very sad to miss out on walks and playing fetch (we did let him carry Precious out once per day), the next day he had very little limp and by Monday he didn't appear to be limping at all. We are slowly allowing more exercise in and are monitoring how he does.
