Grateful - by Lady

Recently, I have been less hopeful and more frustrated with humanity. It seems like general kindness and patience with our fellow humans has decreased. However, the small act of one of my readers helped give me a little faith recently.

Our "When Will the Snow Be Gone" contest winner, asked for a donation to be made to charity instead of a prize. I sent her 2 animal charities I support, and let her pick. After the selection, she let me know, she and her husband had decided to also make a donation to the Ottawa Paw Pantry in our honour. My silly little blog contest, that helps us pass the last long days of winter, has filled my heart as it has filled animals bellies. Who could ask for anything more? For this I am truly grateful and send my sincerest thank you to Fay, for reminding me, good is still out there,.

*The Ottawa Paw Pantry is a food bank for families in need, that hopes to allow struggling families to keep their fur members.

Thankful Thursday - Thank You Mabel

Today we want to send a big thank you to the sweet Miss Mabel whom our peeps got to meet in the furs last week at the mini-BAR. Miss Mabel sent these wonderful chews for us because we couldn't be there.

Look how big they were!

We took them gently,

and spent the next half an hour enjoying them.

Thank you Mabel!

Thanks Phenny and Nelly

The post lady came to our crib . . . in the box was these two wonderful toys, from Phenny and Nelly.

Somehow Lady got this picture upside down and she is too lazy to flip it lol!

Here is how the ball did:

It lasted less than 10 minutes. Professor Lee did her best work on it. Little bits of ball were everywhere, and really smooshed into our bed. It was a great enjoyable mess.

The chicken has still survived, mainly because after supervised playtime it gets taken away (talk about ruining the fun), but it is one of the toys Lee has played with the most, so Lady and Man are trying to make it last. Soon the chicken will not have wings. The chicken is a lot of fun for both the dogs and the people.

Then the post lady left a package pick up and Lady went to the corner store to pick up our parcel (cause that is where it was left). There was a huge box.

Inside it was full of treats! Lady and Man said we are very, very spoiled dogs. We think we are just the right amount spoiled.

Thank you Phenny and Nelly for the wonderful gifts. We love them all!

Thank You and an Update

The Man October 2017
Thank you all for all your POTP. The Man's surgery went very well. The surgeon was very happy how it went and the Man was happy because they gave him really good drugs  it was over. He will spend the next few days resting in bed.

In a comment yesterday, someone suggest take out. In another life, one where the Lady could eat gluten and soy and not get really, really sick, and where we lived close to anything (we are so far out there is no take out - it would be about a 45 minute drive to anywhere the would do takeout), that would be an option. Instead we have a list of things Lady is willing and able to cook. She makes really great nachos and grilled cheese. On a good day she can scramble an egg. She makes vegetarian soups and chilis but the Man doesn't like that sort of thing. They are going to be fine. The Lady has stocked the house with things she can cook and her mom will be here on Friday and will likely take pity on her (and sigh because she really did try to raise her better) and keep everyone fed.

As of the writing of this, the Man had given the Lady an A+ for her nursing skills. But she had only driven him home (going through a drive thru of a fave place as he was starving - it was like the Lady's 5th time ever going through - she is a go in person), gotten his drugs (trying to do this when the person at the pharmacy's English was only slightly better than the Lady's French was amusing), and given him drugs. Her goal is to be like grad stats (why art students needed a graduate level statistics course is beyond her), she needs a B- to pass:). We will see if she can keep that up.

Thanks again for you POTP, it is much appreciated!

Thank You Uncle Chris

Beside the big bone Hailey was seen eating on Wednesday (and a whole heap of other treats he brought to make up for having Emma move in soon), Uncle Chris brought us some new toys.

"Emma took the green one before I had chance to pick, sigh, she is always take everything."  Phod

"I think I will pick this one."  Phod

"Hmmm, what is this?"  Lee

"Looks like I got the smallest one, I will have to go and steal one of the other ones."  Lee

Thanks to Uncle Chris for the toys that are slowly being dead-ed!

Thank You Bentley - by Lee

This year int he Blogville Christmas Exchange, dear Bentley got my name.  I was soooo excited. I got to open it a little before cousin Emma arrived for the holidays. We will have to share enough stuff when she moves in for 154 sleeps. Anyway, back to my great gift.

It came in a beautiful bag.

I gave it a good sniff to try and guess what it was. Phod helped.

Inside was a very cool alligator. Did Bentley know that when I lived with my foster mom, my very special baby was a gator?  I love a gator.

I sat down to play with it and it sort of disappeared. My brother thought it was for him. He tried a play out of my own book.

Don't worry, I got it back!

I decided to take the stuffing out of his mouth before the squeakers, and over the course of a day or so, finished this project.

Thank you very much Bentley for such a pawsome toy!

Thank You Jakey! - by Phod

Hailey and I participated in the Blogville Christmas gift exchange today. We are thanking our friends in order of delivery, so I get to go first.

My pal Jakey (who Lady and Man have met in the furs) got my name this year.

There was a card with his picture and Arty (who I met) and Rosy's picture.

Lady did let me open it a little bit early so I could enjoy it without Hurricane Cousin Emma!

Jakey knows about itchy skin cause his brother Arty lives with it. Fish treats will apparently help me from being too itchy. I eat fish food now.

They sure smelled good when Lady was opening them.

They taste really good! Thank you Jakey!

I am a good big brother (and I know Santa was watching) so I shared with Lee too. She also liked them.

There was also a toy inside for me. Fill it up Lady so I can get playing.  I would really like to see that unclose, so if you aren't too busy . . . . .

You move it around and treats come out, what a pawsome toy!

There was also a little something for Lady in the box!

Thank you very much Jakey, I love my presents!

THANK YOU!

While I am behind on visiting (as always - if only I didn't work), I wanted to send my heartfelt thanks to all of you for reading this blog.  While I don't really follow my blog stats, I do occasionally peak for fun and can't believe I now have over one million page views on my 2351 posts. While my mom is a big fan, I know she hasn't visited that often!

On this, our Thanksgiving weekend, I am extra thankful for my readers, fellow bloggers turned friends, and the awesome community I get to be a part of.  I never imagined the impact a blog to cope with my slightly crazy dog would have on my life.  Thank you for sharing the good, the bad, and sometimes ugly aspects of our lives.

A grateful Lady

Thankful Thursday - Blogger Recognition Award

We are a little late in formally accepting the Blogger Recognition Award that Pets Overload honoured us with recently. We greatly appreciate being thought of for an award!

We are going to follow most of the rules in accepting our award.

We will share how we got started blogging and share 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers.

How this blog came to being:

Rewind almost 7 years ago and you have a crazy Lady trying to navigate her way through a challenging dog (aka Hailey). I wanted a place to show the people who had rescued her that she was ok and to share the journey of having a challenging pup. I created this blog, never thinking more than a handful of people would read it. Now, I am part of an awesome community of bloggers.

My two pieces of advice:

Be yourself and tell your story. It is easy to be 'fake' and hid behind your computer, but people sense that.
Have fun! My favourite posts from others are often ones where I can tell how much fun they had in the moment or creating the post.

Thanks again to Pets Overload. If you don't know them, be sure to pop over and say hi!

Thank You Thursday - Thanks Again Phenny - by Lee

As my angel boyfriend Easy use to say, "the PostMan came to my crib." He brought another parcel from my dear pal Phenny. Phenny had seen Easy had recorded my birthday on his calendar and being such a thoughtful pup, he went out and got me a gift.

It started with this lovely card.

Then he sent one of Easy's favourite treats, Greenies! Know what, they are my favourite treat too! I love, love, love greenies.

Please note the size that thoughtful Phenny sent. Compare it with the size that the Lady buys.

Phenny is a much better shopper!

Thanks dear Phenny! I will enjoy these large Greenies and think of you and Easy.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
I am wondering since it is groundhog Day that means I get to catch/eat one. I caught one once. Lady was NOT happy.

Thank You Thursday - Thanks Phenny

Today's thank you goes out to Da Phenny, Angel Easy's brother, and his peeps. He sent a special gift all the way from France for us. Again, the original pictures of us opening the gift have been lost due to a memory card malfunction. So here we are dramatically recreating the gifts.

First up, showing he has taste, Phenny sent us some treats. This is one of the packages (we may or may not have eaten the other before realizing the pictures were lost!)

GIVEITTOTHELEEGIVEITTOTHELEEGIVEITTOTHELEE

I would like some too please.

We also got 2 really cool toys.

There was a, as our human cousin would say 'this':

and a duck.

Because we know how special they are having come all the way from France, they are still more or less in one piece. There was also something else, but we are gonna save that for another day in the spring maybe.

Thank you Phenny and peeps for such lovely gifts.

Thank You Thursday - Thanks Sarge

Today is the first post in a series to thank our dear Blogville friends for their wonderful holiday gifts. Today, we start with our pal Sarge.  Sarge drew Zaphod's name in the Blogville gift exchange.

Zaphod was the most excited we have ever seen him to open the gifts. He knew they were for him. And he actually opened them!

Sarge thoughtfully sent 3 babies to Phod (who is super picky about food).

Hailey marched off with the elephant and then Phod was seen like this:

Please don't let Hailey take my toys!

He snuggled them for days!

Toy status now: crinkle bear is alive and well, elephant has a hole in him and poor duck is close to death!

Thank you so much Sarge for such wonderful and thoughtful gifts. They are being well loved!

----------
Next week we will thank another friend (after we recreate the opening as our pictures were damaged during transfer to Lady's dying computer) . . . . .

Zaphod's Birthday

First, I am overwhelmed with the participation in Phod's birthday event and the number of comments, and the number of you who shared the event or sent birthday wishes to Phod on your blogs. Blogville is awesome.

If you haven't had a chance to participate in our comment-a-thon, please go to yesterday's post (or click HERE) and do so before 6 am EST tomorrow (Sunday). We will announce the grand total that we will donate to the Ontario SPCA to help end animal cruelty on Monday!

Together we can prevent other pups from having to wear the birthday hat

Phod had a lovely birthday. He got extra love (although I am not sure he appreciated all the singing) and treats.  His favourite being that after about 4 months, his Precious (aka ball) came out and he got to play with the Man in the driveway. He was beside himself apparently. (I was still at work so I missed this and of course the Man didn't think to capture it for the blog).

He also received some very special mail:

From North Caroline Ms Madi sent a card and

The perfect poem
All the way from France, his BIL Easy sent a card!

Thank you all again for joining us in celebrating our boy!

PS I apologize for not getting to visit everyone the last few weeks like I normally do. March was a write off (Man sick, me sick, trying to keep up on work). Hopefully that is behind us and we will get back into our regular routine!
