Mischief Monday - Traitors

Dear pals,

On Saturday our people left us alone for 87 million hours (editors note, it was about 5.5 hours) to go have lunch in the market and to go to the National Art Centre to see SIX the Musical.

It is one thing for them to leave us to go to places, while we don't think it is fair we can't go to, because it isn't allowed, but what happened after is not acceptable.

You see, Lady and Man went with Uncle Chris and since he lives not too far from where they were going, an easy walk, they parked at his place. Then after the play, they stopped by his place for a few minutes to see cousin Emma.

Emma was very excited to see Lady and Man and show them her toys. We didn't get to visit.

We don't think this is fair.

Your pals the not so happy Lee and Phod

Trouble on a Tuesday - Emma Edition

Lady had a completely different post prepared about how, overall, Emma was a very good guest. Lady had even rated the whole week with Emma a B+.

Points had been taken off for needing to go out in the night one night, being very scared in storm, and for making her usual mess of toys.

Coming out from under Lady's desk after hiding from a storm

This rating was revoked Sunday morning. Emma, had a bit of an upset stomach for a couple days (typical for her), however, Sunday morning at approximately 10:20, it took a turn for the worst. Emma had diarrhoea that can be best described as raspberry jam like.

The first bout occurred in the bedroom as Lady was walking out of the closet with the laundry basket and poor Emma (who is very good at asking) squatting on the floor. Lady took a look, asked the Man to bring her some paper towel and said, Emma needs to go to the vet. In the 20 minutes that followed, as Lady was trying to eat, and get dressed and get ready for the vet, there were 2 more bouts.

Emma was silent in the car, and thanks to construction, Sunday fun days and other events that closed roads, it took them about 1.25 hours to reach the clinic. The arrived just as Uncle Chris landed in Ottawa. His flight had been delayed 3 hours, so he was behind. Between seeing the vet tech and the vet, Uncle Chris was able to get to the clinic to join them.

After an exam, the vet gave lots of scientific names that meant 'bloody diarrhoea' (Lady almost wanted to say, one didn't need to be a doctor to see that but she didn't).  He said we would probably never know what upset Emma's stomach so badly but clearly the bacteria in the gut were off (again Lady thought this was rather obvious). He said the normal course of treatment is hospitalization and IV fluid and treatment, but given that Emma was not dehydrated and not lethargic and not vomiting, he suggested some medicine to take home (Lady can't remember the name but it had charcoal and a probiotic), special food and monitoring. He expected improvement within 5 days.

Lady and Uncle Chris were both relieved it was not more serious and know that Lady did the right thing about taking her in when she did. After about 2 hours there, everyone was heading home.

In the end, Emma's visit was given a C-. Lady told Uncle Chris, that it was amazing the lengths Emma would go to, to not be left behind again!

Trouble on a Tuesday - A Visitor

Whose in the cage Lady brought home?

Hello friend! (while Phod sniffs the car to determine where it has been)

It is cousin Emma - here for 9 or 10 days while Uncle Chris is in San Diego for work

We can't imagine we will have any mischief to report next week!

Trouble On A Tuesday - Emma's Visit

 Dear pals,

While the weather kept Uncle Chris and cousin Emma from visiting on Christmas, they were able to come up to spend New Year's with us.

Basically the people played games and ate too much and Emma stole all our toys and spot on the couch.

While it was nice to have them visit, it was nice to have them leave too!

Mischief Monday - Less Than Expected

Lady says she can't believe how good we all were for the 36 hours Man and Uncle Chris were in Toronto for a concert. It was a 2020 concert where they saw Joan Jet, Poison, Def Leopard and Motley Crue.

Anyway, Lady says we (mostly meaning Emma) were very good puppies. She worked at home all day Monday and half day Tuesday so we will are only alone a few hours before the guys were back. While she was working, Emma mostly sat on the couch.

While it went better than expected, Emma did cause a little mischief. She did still sometimes demand the love.

She did hump our toys.

When the power flickered she curled up on Lady's lap while she was working.

We only got barking once while Lady was in a training webinar. Lady guesses we were extra good because we are all seniors and much more mature now.

Lady says the biggest mischief last week was the extreme heat. We had 3 days where the temperatures were around 40C/110F. We only have a/c in the bedroom so on day 3, Lady and Lee had enough and stretched out on the bed to read!

Hope your week wasn't too mischief-y!

Mischief Monday - The Problem with 4

Friday. Uncle Chris and Emma were visiting for the weekend. Lady was fighting a migraine. Uncle Chris and the Man went out to pick up dinner, leaving 3 dogs who need to go out. So out they went. 2 of the neighbour children and Callie happened by and the following happened:

-Emma was terrified and only ok if Lady was holding her. She ended up in the house.

-Hailey tried to use Lady's distraction to go for a walk, so she ended up in the house.

-Callie was chasing her boy and nipping his ankles, which Phod interpreted as hurting his boy, and while he did not get aggressive, was leaning that way, so he ended up in the house.

-While Lady was sitting talking to the kids, Callie decided to go into the bush, so Lady went and got her.

Lady said it felt like a comedy and was a very busy 30 minutes!

Hurricane Emma!

Look who came to visit! Uncle Chris and cousin Emma! We were so excited to see them!

Restrictions are slowly lifting in our part of the world. While Lady and Man are still being cautious, we did think having Uncle Chris (who has mostly been at home) and Emma was reasonably safe.

We were all well behaved (for the most part). Lee and Phod were still tired from the week's adventures. Other than taking out all the toys and trying to destroy them, Emma was good.

It was nice to see people and Lady said it was one of the most normal things that has happened in 13 weeks!

Tasty Tuesday - Sharing is Caring

Lady loves that the 3 of us are able to share food and there is no resource guarding (of course, for safety, and more so because Lee will take any opening to steal food she can, we are always closely monitored when we are being fed!)

Mischief Monday - We Thought We Would Melt

As we write this, we are celebrating a drastic drop in temperature. It is about 17C/62F which feels almost cold after last weeks high of 39C/102F. Yep, you read that right, it got to the 100s here! We bet this is not what you think of as Canadian temperatures, but it happened.

It presents a different challenge for us because our house does not have air conditioning. Yep, you also read that right (we swear, it is not April Fool's Day!). We don't even have a window unit. We do have fans and a great system of closing all the windows in the morning and opening them all in the evening. It helps. At the worst, our house reached about 28C/82F. It was warm, but livable.

This is about how we spent our days!

The tile is cool!

We have a few more reasonable days in the mid 20s/70s before we hit the 30s/high 80s again.

In other news, look who has stopped by for a visit . . .

Yep, it is cousin Emma. She is with us for a week while Uncle Chris is in San Diego for work. We hope to not have too much mischief to report next week.

Stay cool dear friends!

Sucking Up To Us

As mentioned yesterday, Lady was a terrible human because she spent time with cats on her birthday and not us. To make it up to us, she and the Man took us to a dog park on Saturday.

We now live far from any dog park. Country dogs don't usual need to go, they run free in their yards, but some pup whose name starts with H, can't be trusted off leash in the yard most of the time. She is too comfortable and likes to hunt too much. So this is a chance to socialize and run free. Lady is always a little nervous about the dog park, but given the huge space, it is easy to avoid bad owners.

Here are some pictures from our visit (she didn't take too many because she wanted to be watching us).

Molly, Ruby - is that you?

It is important to stay hydrated on a hot day!

Two happy pups

Phod had a great time wallowing in a huge puddle. Lee just waded in.

Man says he is looking to set up a meet up with a friend's dog later in July. It will be nice to get to go again!

Mischief Monday - Sing Along with Us

We held a sing along over the weekend. The following went on for some time. No one is sure what or who started it. We aren't near any of the doors or windows so we didn't see anything.  Lady captured only a little of it. It looks like we are about to stop in the video, but don't worry, we kept going!

Did you do any extra singing over the holiday weekend?

Happy Easter!

"Oh, no, it is time to pay the hat tax."
(Editor's Note: For the costs our beloved dogs incur without contributing financially to the household, several times per year, usually around holidays, they are required to pay the hat tax.)

"Look super cute and it will be over soon and you will get lots and lots of treats."

Cousin Emma: "I am always really, really cute."

A holiday miracle, I captured all 3 dogs in one shot wearing the hats. That is the best gift!

"Hmmm, is it time for the treats in the eggs?"

From our house to yours, however you celebrate it, we wish you all a very Happy Easter.
