As we write this, we are celebrating a drastic drop in temperature. It is about 17C/62F which feels almost cold after last weeks high of 39C/102F. Yep, you read that right, it got to the 100s here! We bet this is not what you think of as Canadian temperatures, but it happened.
It presents a different challenge for us because our house does not have air conditioning. Yep, you also read that right (we swear, it is not April Fool's Day!). We don't even have a window unit. We do have fans and a great system of closing all the windows in the morning and opening them all in the evening. It helps. At the worst, our house reached about 28C/82F. It was warm, but livable.
This is about how we spent our days!
The tile is cool! |
we hope for a non-melting day too.. it looked promising in the morning but we are back to 30°c now...ouff
ReplyDeleteI love air conditioning. I think it is possibly humanity's greatest invention....maybe second to bacon.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you don't have any more of those melting temps. They are NOT fun without AC!
ReplyDeleteMy ghostwriter remembers those hot summer days growing up in a house with no AC. They would spend the day in the cool basement playing board games, or else outside running through the sprinkler. Hope you get some more comfortable days ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh dear that is horribly hot. Gail and I send our deepest sympathies..
ReplyDeleteOur house does not have air conditioning either. As Gail says, we have the Scottish climate instead. We believe that the Aberdeen temperature record is 29ÂșC.
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
We couldn't live without our AC. It reached 96 here last week with super high humidity. We hope you don't get any more temps that high.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed the mischief is kept to a minimum. Your temps are pretty wild. It's hot, hot, hot here. ☹️
ReplyDeleteWe bet those cool tiles were nice. Misty likes to spill her water on the tiles in the laundry room, and then she stretches out in the puddle. AND we do have central A/C - not sure what she would do without it.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We don't even put on the aircon until it is about 34°C, and we don't have heating...just little electric heaters for winter. Such a difference. But we know if you aren't used to it, it can be draining. Glad there's lots of cool tiles for the dogs. (Maybe it'll be too hot for Emma mischief.)

ReplyDeleteThe climate just doesn't really understand balance, does it?! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Glad to hear things have cooled down! We hear you about the no A/C...we were uncomfortable when it got up near 90 a few weeks ago!
ReplyDeleteOh no! We're sorry about the heat. That's no fun!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see cousin Emma stopped by for a visit. This weather can be crazy sometimes. Glad things have cooled down for you. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful day.

Oh noes! That kind of heat without AC is terribles! I knows, when our AC broke it was horribles! I am glads it cooled down!!! That 62F sounds FABulous! I hopes it stays!
ReplyDeleteAnd I hopes there is very little drama with cousin Emma! hehehehee
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
We are supposed to get in the 90's this week. WE are glad we have central air

We sure hope you see some cooler days soon. Hot is no fun. Hugs and nose kisses
ReplyDeleteBlerg. Mom and I HATE air conditioning, but we are forced to use it, otherwise we are too sweaty to get dressed on hot days. Stay cool, friends...
