Covid World

It has been a bit since we talked about how we are doing here on day 486 since the first day of lockdown. Things are slowly returning to normal. Masks are still required in public places and now 1 meter distancing is required instead of 2. Businesses are all up and running and capacity limits have been removed as long as 1 meter can be kept between groups. This is how it will be until 70% of us are double vaccinated. It is estimated that we will hit this milestone by the end of August here in Quebec.

We know some of you are thinking, how will we reach that number as you in in places where this will never happen.  Well, we were slow to get the vaccines rolling but at the time of the writing of this post 82% of people 12 and older in Quebec had at least 1 dose and 45% had both.  Ananda wide it is about 80% one shot and 50% both. Perhaps it is Canadians general trust in our healthcare system or the fact we have had such harsh lockdowns that has us all very motivated to get both shots. Or maybe it is our desire to leave winter behind and travel and we know vaccine passports will be a thing. Whatever the reasons, I am proud of my fellow Canadians for coming together for this.

I had my second vaccine (I am club Moderna) a week ago. My arm hurt like insert HBO words here. For a few hours the next day I was exhausted and felt a little feverish. I had set my schedule so I could nap and I did. After this all that remained was a sore arm and some fatigue. I had the best nurse while I was convalescing.

We hope things are safely returning to 'normal' for you too.

  2. usa has gone quite mad and is now a country divided and may never be together again. half the country refuses to get vaccinated, we have vaccine for everyone, it is free, just drive there and walk in and get it and people are refusing and plus that people are back to doing what they want when they want and not wearing masks. we could lick this thing if 70 percent would get the vaccine... glad you got yours and love your nurse

  3. So proud of Canada (and my family up there). It is day 487 for us; our 500 miles tone arrives on July 28; you will meet us there on July 29. (A pre-emptory welcome to the club!) Despite being a rich country, the USA is woefully behind our neighbor. I agree with MadSnapper, of course. Would love to see my family in Williamsburg, ON and my friends there....

  4. At times we wish we were Canadian so we could live where most of the country would get vaccinated. Sadly it has become a political matter rather than something we do to help our fellow citizens. We still have a long way to go to get out of this mess but I'm glad we both have our full vaccine. Now we wait to see if/when a booster is needed.

  6. Oh K10 I 100% agree with your HBO word on the sore arm...WOW it was brutal within 87 seconds of getting #1 and #2. Both mine were around 9:30 am by 10 hours later I was tired but it was bed time so that was ok. Next day and several afterwards SORE arm but less tiredness.

Keep up the good work Canada
    PHOD I'm a wee bit jealous I didn't have a furry nurse.

  7. I hope you can reach that vaccination goal. Here in Michigan...and the US for that matter...it's only a dream. I wish people realized how important getting vaccinated is but sadly some only want to believe what they want to believe and ignore the science. ~the mom

  9. Mom is fully vaccinated, but we are very annoyed at people who are being difficult about it because vaccines are available absolutely everywhere for free. They'll even come to your house and administer it there. As we come out of quarantine, our numbers are going higher and higher because of the unvaccinated anti-vaxxers. We are afraid it will be return to lockdown again. Blerg.

    Love and licks,

  11. The nursing staff continues to perform well. Kudos to Canada for recognizing the importance of vaccination. Alas your friends to the south aren't quite as enlightened which makes me think we'll have a 4th wave later in the year. Sign. We'll be the ones drooling over your vacation photos while we're in watching from the sidelines being quarantined again.😬
