Mischief Monday - Things That Won't Go In The Night

The face of an angel

Scene: The wee hours of Saturday morning, a bedroom in Paradis.
Players: Miss Hailey Bug and the Man
Supporting cast: Lady, Phod, Emma

Scratch, scratch, scratch.
Get back into bed, it is not time to go out.
Scratch, scratch, scratch
Hailey get on the bed.
Scratch, scratch, scratch
Fine I will take you out.

Fast forward maybe 5 minutes. Hailey and the Man have been out and everyone is back in the house. The bedroom door is open.

Tap, tap, tap, tap (nails on the floor in the house)
Tap, tap, tap, tap

Who knows how long this went on as Lady went back to sleep.

In the morning the Man discovered that Hailey had both peed on a blanket on the floor downstairs and by the back door. Apparently when he took her out, she wouldn't go. He thought maybe she had just heard something.

Cleaning up a spot
Saturday night, she was last out around 1 am (the Man was up late) and when Lady took her out around 7:30 on Sunday she wouldn't go. It wasn't until around 11 she finally went. We are wondering a couple things: If she has some sort of infection (she has no other behaviour change, her pee looks fine and she doesn't appear to have pain, so we will watch her); If she is mad that Emma is still here; That she is mad she hasn't had a walk since last Monday (come back Thursday to find out why).

  1. Aha Hailey, are you having the January pee issues as well.
For some reason I always get the peeps up at 3am for a quick 'splash and dash' potty, but only in January.
Butt, best be good now Hailey 'cos I don't want there to be anythingy wrong with you!

  2. Well Hailey, we do hope there is nothing badly wrong with you. Perhaps you can take comfort from the fact that you are at least making me look good. Gail says she can't remember the last time I woke her to go out, or pee'd on the floor in the night. It has not happened since I was a very tiny puppy. She hopes things stay that way!
    Toodle pip!

  3. I hope efurrything is ok Professor Lee... maybe it is just the moon, in 2 days we will have snow moon (or hunger moon) and maybe that caused all that?
I always have to go out at night, but I only go with the mama (she is super happy for that) if my dad takes me out I do nothing outside, but when I come back into the house...

  10. We have things that go in the night too. I have to close my bedroom or Keltic doesn't get me up to go. Last night he woke me up but couldn't wait until I got downstairs. What a boy.

  13. This is why the mom is glad we're cats and we pee in boxes. ;)

  14. Perhaps just a change in the routine now that their cousin has arrived? We hope it resolves itself quickly and is not an infection.

  16. We hope Hailey is OK! Cricket sometimes gets up in the middle of the night, and thinks that's a good time to sniff around the yard taking her sweet time. (but at least she does pee in there somewhere)

  17. We had that happen with Abby a couple of months ago. She'd not try and wake us up but she'd have an accident. Vet said no UTI, we got a crate and are getting her used to it as a sleep space with the door open, in case we have to crate her overnight as she gets older but we found limiting her to just one room in the house with her bed by blocking the doors, she wasn't "wandering" and then having to "go".

  20. Hope all is good Hailey.
Cranberry or Vit.C is pawsome for typical pee issues if it's a health issue.
