Thanks to Rosy and Sunny for hosting this event.
Today is the first full day of winter! It arrived at 10:27 pm last night. Today is our first full day of winter.
I don't know why Lady wouldn't let me on the ice! |
While Lady is not a winter fan, she is a huge fan of the Winter Solstice because it means the days are getting longer and she misses day light. She took this screen shot yesterday, not to show you the temperature (-13C/8F is not that cold, we had a great 30 minute walk at 6 am), but to show you the day light. The sun only rose at 7:40 am (which on go to work day means Lady drives in the dark) and it sets at 4:21 (which also means she drives home in the dark). Lady is not a fan of only 8 hours and 41 minutes of day light. At the Summer Solstice we are getting about 15 hours and 40 minutes of day light. We lose 7 hours of sunshine over 6 months. So we have a lot to celebrate today!
I understand. In New Hampshire, the sun would set at just about that time. It took some getting used to.....Merry Christmas to your entire family.

ReplyDeleteI'm having to use lamps pretty much the whole day, because never mind the short hours, but the cloud cover is like a black out curtain too!!! Yay for Solstice. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
absolutely affected by light changes, we love long bright days and lots of sunshine, all three of us. but our shortest day yesterday was 10 hours 24 minutes. why we love Florida and plan to stay here until we go across the rainbow bridge, I would hate the short days you are describing..
ReplyDeleteBrrrrrrrrrrrrrr we have extra indoor lights this year to help with the gloomy.
ReplyDeleteJust returned from several days with Marlu, Greg and 3 grand kitties, Frisco, Harper and Mia.
A wonderful time was had by all. Catching up today
Warm Christmas hugs and thoughts

We're happy that the days are going to get longer now. That means there will be more time for us to play outside. Even though we live in cold weather we think -13C/8F is very cold!
ReplyDeleteLee, my question is, why are puppies drawn to ice like magnets. We had a litter at just the right time for a small frozen pond that leaked. Which made a bowl of ice, they just love it!
ReplyDeleteNot so me.
I think you two are happiest in cold weather
ReplyDeleteSo fun!!! My Mom is a weirdo and likes the shorter cozier days/nights buts dats probably cause it's so dang hot here in da summer dat her wishes da sun would go down ;)
ReplyDeleteWe hope ya'll has da bestest Christmas efur furiends :)
