In the wee hours of Saturday morning, a thunderstorm rolled in. While rain was in the forecast, thunder was not. Lee moved right to scratching the wall beside Lady's head. It was Man's turn to get up with her.
It took a long time for Lee to settle. She was determined to do some damage. She tried pawing at/destroying Man's computer. When that was not successful (he made her move), she finished off the bed that was in the fortress of solitude (aka the downstairs bathroom).
A used comforter has been put in its place, so she does have a safe place.
In the event another storm rolls in we will either increase her dosage for the day and/or give her Xanax. It was much more challenging for her to settle down on the lower dose.
While the Man was pretty tired the next day, our princess had lots of naps.
oh how bad that this storm came and scared Lee so much... hugs to you all we hope for better nights with sweet dreams...
ReplyDeletethis is just heartbreaking that she is so very fearful. Big boy hates them, but he just paces and whimpers. if it is rolling thunder he will lay on the bed with me or under my legs. the louder storms he paces but not the damage Lee does. poor girl and I know it is hard on you also...
ReplyDeleteIt's hard finding just the right balance. I hope you work it out for the next storm!
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that Lee is so terribly afraid of storms. Hopefully the worst is over
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry to hear Hailey had a bad night with that storm. Of course we feel for The Man too since he didn't get much sleep either.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry, Lee. Thunder is awful for dogs like you. In our house too, if a dog keeps us up at night, they get lots of naps the next day and we don't! Not fair...
ReplyDeleteSo sorry she had a bad time of it. Katy used to go werewolf on the full moon like clockwork. Dog Dad would have to get up and sleep downstairs with her as she would get incredibly restless for a couple of nights unable to sleep or rest normally. Then she'd return to normal after the full moon. Mom called her a moon child. Thankfully she seems to have out grown that in her senior years. I hope I'm not jinxing it as Dog Dad will be very sad if it comes back.

ReplyDeletedeary me, big boomeries again at this time of year? That's no good. I think using higher dosages in time of need is not a bad thing. Sending huggles and waggles, YAM-aunty xxx
Poor baby... a hug from my cats and I (they're scared of the thunder, too).
ReplyDeleteLee I'm so sorry. Bless your sweet heart.
ReplyDeleteYou napped while your Man worked....yes the life of a princess
Hugs HiC
Poor Hailey...hope those stinky storms stay away!
ReplyDeleteWe are still getting rumbles of thunder every now and then too, Hailey. I wish it was never invented. We hope your peeps can come up with a dosage for you as the seasons change.
ReplyDeleteWe wish Lee could learn to cope with the thunder more easily...like just hide under the bed or something. Stressful for everyone. Good luck with the predictions, so you can give her something.
ReplyDeletePoor Lee.
ReplyDeletePoor girl. It's heartbreaking when storm terror vex our fur-babies.
ReplyDeletePoor Lee.
ReplyDeleteHope da storms stay away.
ReplyDeletePoor sweet baby :'( Matt doesn't destroy stuff but he shakes so hard it rattles whatever he is next to and he has to go in his cave "under Matilda's cat tree". We have been giving him pet.releaf edibite all summer and they have been working wonders for him. He gets one every morning and then if I know a storm is coming or he starts to sense one I give him another one. I hope the stormy season ends soon!
ReplyDeletexoxo,

Oh Lee, we sure hope the storms end very soon
