My dog is too smart

In yesterday's post I talked about why LeeLee the leash killer had to strike again. I didn't talk about one thing, how she chewed the pink leash.

She got Phod's blue leash because the drawer int he bench where the leashes are kept was open.

The bench where the leashes use to live

When Man took her our after the groundhog affair, the pink leash was in one piece. He put it in the drawer. Later, when Lady went to take her out, she opened the drawer and the leash was in 2 pieces. The Man and Lady couldn't figure out how that happened.

Then yesterday, they went to the city to celebrate Lady's birthday. When they came back. The drawers were closed but Phod's Lupine harness was out (it had not been out) and was chewed.

The chewed harness

It appears Hailey has learned how to open the drawers, take things out to chew and close the drawers. [We purposely had not taught her to open and close drawers for this reason, guess she figured it out all on her own!]

The leashes now have a new home in the closet (until she figures out how to get those).

Lady gets to figure out how Lupine's return policy for products work to replace Phod's harness he has used like 3 times.

She had asked at the store when she went to replace the chewed leashes (we need to have leashes)  if they carried Lupine, which they didn't, but they carry RC Pet Products, which also offer replacement for chewing, so she got some of those. Let's see how long before she has to go and replace them . . . . . .

Has your dog ever done something you were both really proud of and frustrated by?????

  1. We jut have a 'some doggie' that visits here - HE only ever appears when I go out though....he's NEVER EVER around when I am home. He LOVES to empty to small trash can near my chair:)

  2. Um yeah, she's a smarty pants that girl of yours. Boomer doesn't really have those moments but Dottie sure does, she's a smarty pants too!

  3. Monty opens doors - including our back door. This is fine when we let them out during nice weather, but so many times he has let both himself and Harlow back in the house - covered in mud...

  4. Hailey is one smart cookie!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  5. Greta is the smart one at our house. We have had to make changes around the house cause she is one heck of a problem solver!

    Mr Bailey, Hazel & Greta

  6. We can't wait to hear whether or not Hailey learns how to get into the closet! Thank goodness our dogs are too small to reach our leashes, but Jakey has been known to chew through car seat harnesses and leaping into Mama's lap when we are travelling...

  7. Oh yes! A few different times. It's one of those "hoe the heck did you do that, you smart dog....and bad bad puppy!!!" moments! BOLOLOL!!!
ღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!

  8. Circumstantial evidence! Could have been squirrels.....not that we don't think Lee is awesome for learning about drawers.

    XXXOOO Bella Roxy & Dui

    Still having blogging problems.

  9. WE agree with Bella and ROXY and Dui... Circumstantial Evidence.... It was EITHER Squirrels or ....... VACULA....
    FOR HAILEY's EYES ONLY .........
We are SOOOOOO proud of you fur learning to Open and then CLOSE those drawers!!! Way to GOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo Girrrrrrl.... Would you be willing to teach a COURSE in how to do that???

  10. WE are BACK...... since Blogger is being a Big ol' BOOGER... we didn't get to read your post YESTERDAY... we went to Older Post and just came back... NOW we KNOW what happened to the Leashes and stuffs.... THE GROUND HOG DID IT!!!! YES INDEED.

  11. Oh, it's tough when they show how smart they are, but the results do not make us happy! I'm pretty impressed by the opening and closing of drawers....you've definitely got a smart one on your hands! :)

  12. And just where we're the cats during all of this? Could be a set up. BOL!

  13. Wow, that Hailey sure is smart. Opening drawers? He could be a service dog - and put those skills to good use!

  14. Lee, you are one smart cookie!

    Aroo to you,

  15. Hailey how did you learn to do that?

  16. That's a really clever trick and how clever to hide the evidence by putting the leash back!

  17. I was impressed as Easy opened the fridge (he was 9 months old) but that I had to remove a whole pack of eggs from the floor was not really funny. I hope the new leashes will last a little longer.
