The Good Friday Adventure - by Hailey

Running with a new friend
After we got up yesterday, the Lady and Man shoved pills down Phod's throat. This made him nervous, but I knew it meant only one thing, we were going in the car. Phody needs meds to go in the car. I was also nervous until I heard one of the world's greatest 4 letter words - PARK! We were going to a park! We use to go to the park all the time, but since we moved to the middle of no where, and Phody gets car sick, we have only gone a couple of times. I was so excited. After Phod's pills had been in his body for a bit, we went in the car and drove for 87 million years. Phody was very upset, and even with his great pills still got sick (Lady says maybe 1.5 hours isn't enough time for them to work, maybe he needs closer to 2). I was very good in the car.

Finally we arrived and it was glorious! I can't tell you how excited I was. I got to run and play and make new friends. Uncle Chris and Emma met us there (they live near the park, so they are lucky), I was so excited to see Emma I sang!

We got to run and play for hours [Editor's note: about an hour and a half]. I made so many new friends. I checked every white dog to make sure they weren't Gemi. [Editor's note: This made Lady a little sad, that close to 3 years later, she would still look for Gemi].

Here are some pictures of our fun!

Hailey practicing her "table" at the park. She was so good she would even do commands!

One very happy Phody!

Then it was time to go. Phody was a bit nervous that Lady and I were leaving without him (we had to go back on the horrible leashes to go into the parking lot), cause Lady and I got ahead. Then we had to walk slow to wait for him. I was very tired and slept the 87 million year drive home, and all evening. It was a good day indeed. I can't wait to go back again.

Note from the Lady: Phody has only been to a dog park a few times with us, and Lee has not been in some time, however, they were both AMAZING! I couldn't believe how good they were. They were friendly and playful. Phod always stayed close and since Hailey knew there were treats in our pockets, she always came when we called and she even checked in. We hope to do this a bit more often and hope maybe it will make Phod a little less scared of the car, because he clearly loved it there.

  1. That sounds like everyone had a great time. You are right maybe a few more trips to the park and Phod might start to get to like the car. Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. What a fun time... minus the car ickiness... it sounds like everyone did well enough that another visit might happen sooner rather than later!

  3. Sorrrrrrry that you got the car sickies... butt this time we think it was WELL WORTH it... What a Superior SUPER Adventure that was... We don't have any dawg parks near here... butt we HAVE gone to them... LONG DRIVE... 87 DAYS worth... just like fur YOURS... butt we adored it also.
We are THRILLED that you both had a FABULOUS time.
Happy Hoppy Easter to you !!

  4. We're glad you had such a good time. It makes getting nervous in the car worth the drive.

  5. Sounds like a successful and FUN trip!! YAY!

    Hugs, Sammy

  6. Although we go to training class and to parks we have never been to a dog park where you can run free and play. Looks like you had a blast!

  7. A trip to the dog park looks like it was worth a little sickage. Seems like everyone had loads of fun.

  8. We were thinkin' the same thing. Maybe if there's the park at the end of the ride, Phod will take the car ride better. Looks like a fantastic place with plenty of friends.

  12. Our boys get carsick too, thank goodness most of our parks are close! So very glad the day went well!!

  13. It looks like you have a wonderful time. We like the PARK word too! But we noticed it looked cold there still. We are gonna send you some warmer air! Happy Easter!

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  14. What a wonderful time!!! They looked like they had a blast. I'm so sorry about Phod's carsickness. We've had some issues with that with various dogs but have always been able to solve them. I hope that Phod's issues calm down over time.

I can tell that everyone had a great time!

  15. Dog parks are home to happy dogs! I am so glad you got to make some new friends. It looks like there is so much to sniff and check out at your park. Too bad you can't wear the bracelet or ear patch like peeps do so you don't get the sickies!

  16. Aww! Looks like you guys had a ton of fun!!! We don't go to the park as much as we should be either, but our town has FINALLY put a park here! So we are able to go more often now!
I sent you an email BTW ;)
