New Paw and New Season

Our front lawn this morning
For everyone who guessed the new paw in town was a raccoon, you were right. So far we have seen him in the field with the horses and up a tree near the horses. Our neighbours say he was on their front steps one night and would not get off, even when poked with a broom. Our Lady is worried there is something wrong with him. We think he smells excellent and perfect! We look forward to meeting him.

It is now feeling like spring here. While it is cold in the morning around 0 C (32 F), it is warming up to the low teens C (or 50-55 F). There is still snow around, probably in part because on Friday we got hopefully the last snow storm of the season. We got about 15 cm of snow and rain (close to 1/2 a foot). Our lake is still covered in thin ice, so we don't get to visit it for safety reasons. We hope by next weekend to get to go.

Our Lady is out of town tonight/tomorrow and says she won't have a chance to post a blog (we are giving her an F for blogging this week).

See you all on Saturday!

  2. Oh no, if Mr. Raccoon isn't moving much when prodded with a broom, I'd stay very far away from him. You don't want to get the icky sicky from him.

Sounds like your weather is starting to take a turn towards Spring ~ yeah! Hope the nice weather continues.

  4. Yikes, I'd be scared of the raccoon if I poked him and he wouldn't leave. Of course, I probably wouldn't be brave enough to poke him in the first place. Safe travels.

  5. Well hope the raccoon doesn't bring you much trouble. We have them here sometimes, but I haven't seen one in awhile now.

  6. I knew it was a raccoon. Butt take it from me, you DO NOT want to mess with them. They can be very viscous and attack and that is not a good thing. So stay clear of them, as cute as they might be.

  10. A raccoon!!! SHE had a pet raccoon way back at the dawning of time when SHE lived in Virginia, and has always had a soft spot for them. Hope he's not sick--just stubborn.

We're finally having Autumn weather. 40s at night and 70s-80s during the day. Just beautiful, though SHE finds it cold.

  12. What part of Canada do you live in? We're starting to get spring in Toronto, Ontario.

We hope the raccoon is ok. The city raccoons are relentless. Hope that you can romp around hear the lake soon. What's the point of living near such a beautiful lake if you can't romp around it? :)

  13. Poor raccoon.....well as you may have seen on my blog, we have a possum who visits our front porch from time to time.....I think they're as curious about US as we are about THEM!

  17. I think I would worry too - especially if he doesn't leave when poked with a broom. Have a good weekend!
