We are happy to report that we didn't have accidents in the house Thursday or Friday. We have created this temporary solution to blocking the basement. The chairs allow the cats to go up and down, but keep the dogs from going down. Not going down = no accidents.
We have also changed Zaphod's feeding schedule. After lots of reading and research we determined that maybe we were feeding him too much food now that he is at his ideal body weight. So now he is getting 4 cups plus treats instead of 5. We are also only giving 1 cup in the morning and 3 at night. He is now just pooping 2 times a day. He gives the sad eyes in the morning when you only give him one cup in the morning so we may start to play with that.
We did have some accidents Saturday. Saturday am, when I first got up Lee snuck downstairs while I was in the bathroom and pooped on the floor. This is very unusual. She can usually wait while we go to the bathroom. I guess she was desperate.

Then on Saturday we ran to the hardware/grocery store (out here in the country it is one store, you can get beer, bananas and a wheelbarrow, how great is that - it is like a general store!). When we got back someone (Lee) had taken 2 tupperware containers off the counter and chewed them up. When the Man was verbally scolding the dogs and making them sit and wait while I cleaned it up, our poor Phod got scared and had an accident. It breaks my heart that having a voice raised to him does this to him. I hate whoever did that to him. However, I wish it had ANY effect on my Lee! For this accident, we just cleaned it up without drawing any attention to it.
We will see how our new system works this week.
We have our paws crossed you find a regime that works. So sad that Phod gets so scared. We agree that the person who did this to him should have his ankles bit very hard. I volunteer. Have a lovely Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly

OMG, the pooping issue is serious! We're going through something kinda similar. Our new rescue Pepper has been having pee incidents in the house and we're having a hard time figuring out the best schedule. It's tough, I'm glad ya'll have found a routine though!
