Nature Friday - Friends by Phod

Thanks to our dear friend Rosy for hosting Nature Friday.

Lady, you must stop working right now and take me outside.

Abby and the girls have stopped by and it wouldn't be friendly if I didn't chase them up the trees.

Editor's note: At this time we have between 4-8 wild turkeys every day at the feeder. They are there most of the day eating the sunflower seeds the birds and squirrels drop. While wild turkeys usually walk, they can fly short distances to roost in the trees. Nothing brings Phod more joy than chasing them up trees.

Taking Advantage of Some Freedom - by Lee

As I have mentioned before, after 11.5 years, I finally have my peeps trained and they are letting me off leash in some very controlled situations.

If Lady didn't want me to go this way, she wouldn't have made a snowshoe track!

Here I am looking toward the feeders to see if lunch some lovely wildlife is around.

I do have an advantage this time of year, because the snow makes it harder for them to follow me if I venture out back.

Do you see me?

Don't worry, after I did my business, I reluctantly came back and they weren't required to get their snowshoes and follow me!

Mischief Monday - Power and Tummies! by Lee

 Dear pals,

Last Sunday night we had no power again all night. It went out around 10 pm and it came back around 6:15 am. At 5 when the Lady got up to get ready for work, the Man got up and started the generator. We did a much better job at not keeping the peeps up all night, probably because it was just too cold. Sunday night was an especially cold one and when the power came on, the house was about 14C/57F.

Hugging the Lady

Later in the week, I had an upset stomach and on two different nights (with a day where my tummy felt fine) I was up in the night to go outside. Lady and Man are not cheerful people at 2 or 3 am FYI. I thought they would have been happy that I asked and only had one accident in the house during whatever this was. A day of rice, and my belly was as right as rain.

Lady and Man think a combination of my heart worm/tic meds, bird seed and likely too many treats just put my tummy off. My behaviour during the 'sick' days was fine and I was eating and my tummy was not always upset.

I will admit at 12, all these nighttime adventures leave me tired!

A feeling better Hailey Bug

Nature Friday - Getting The Mail

Thanks to Rosy for hosting this hop.

The Man still works at home. Most days, he finishes work around 3:30. This gives us time to get ready to go get the mail and see our neighbour's get off the school bus. Phod loves getting to the see the kids get off the bus.

Come with us on a winter walk to get the mail.

Heading down the driveway before Man has snowblowed it out. We got another 6 inches on this day.

Lady was home this day to join us. Shadow pictured. Also deep snow is the only time Lee wants to be second!

It was about -13C without the wind or 8F

Meeting Calli and the kid's grandma at the corner

Calli posing!

Calli tired of waiting

Phod and his boy!

Walking back - Grandma gets all the bags!

We hope you enjoyed our walk to get the mail.
