During our blog break last week, our girl had not one, but two horrible nights.
Night one: Thursday night - reason first thunderstorm of the season.
The good: she didn't bark and when one of us got up and moved downstairs she was able to hid in the basement bathroom quietly. (we took turns sleeping down there, I ended up spending about 2.5 hours on the couch).
The bad: Prior to settling she was pacing and shaking and once I was awake, I was up for 1.5 hours or so.

Night two: Friday night - at 3 am she decided she needed to pee. She had refused to get up when the Man had tried to take her out before bed, so in some fairness to her she hadn't been out for probably 8 or 9 hours. She will be carried out in the future if necessary. I was only awake about an hour that night.
At the time of the writing of this post, it is really windy, so I fear another sleepless night and then the next two have a lot of rain . . . . .
More napping on Friday after the sleepless night |

ReplyDeleteAw bless... deep breaths... is it worth considering an early, low-dose, preventive use of the medicine? Am thinking in terms of breaking a cycle before it actually bonds into one... Huggies all. YAM xx
Oh poor Lee... I hope the scary storms and that howling wind will disappear...that's scary for a dog I so agree. We had a stormy night too, so I wasn't brave enough to go out... and then the mama needed a roll with kitchen towels...
ReplyDeleteOh dear it's awful when you can't sleep. Wishing you restful nights from no onwards.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, it is hard to sleep with an anxious dog. Did you see our post from yesterday about that musician who wrote the song for his dog to help her anxiety? You should try playing the music...it is on youtube. We played it last night for Oz (gets a little anxious at night with his deteriorating vision) and it soothed him almost immediately!
ReplyDeleteWe're sorry to hear Hailey had some bad nights. Sometimes Millie has to be pushed out the door for "last call" but we make her get up so we don't have any middle of the night potty runs.
ReplyDeleteOh no. I hope you get some better rest my sweet friend. Sending you major hogs and snout kisses from the Hotel Thompson. XOXO - Bacon
ReplyDeleteLee darlin' I'm so sorry you all had a bad night due to storms but mom and I truly understand neither of us like thunder and lightning.
ReplyDeleteKitty kisses and purrs for no more storms for a very long time
Hugs madi your bfff
It's funny how different dogs react differently to thunder storms. Our Miss Ginger totally ignored them. Joey dog was afraid, but usually he'd just go and snuggle with someone. As he got older and hard of hearing, it didn't bother him much anymore. I, Chester, am not afraid of thunder. In fact, I bark at it! I hope Lee gets over that fear eventually. In the meantime, she sure is lucky to have such an attentive family.
ReplyDeleteOur dog before Ms Daisy, Butch was scared of thunder and lightening. But Dasiy is horrified of gun fire. When some one shooting off there gun in neighborhood and when she out side she heads though the doggie door.

Aw, poor thing. So sorry. During thunderstorm season, I used Zen [Licks] a homeopathic remedy to calm a Sam. If administered early enough, it is effective. Now with my epilepsy warrior, I use CBD oil on him since we use it to help with seizure control. It is fabulous for anxious dogs. Praying there's plenty of restful sleep for everyone this week.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, hoping for a more restful night tonight.
ReplyDeleteI hope the Lady is better tempered than Gail when she is sleep deprived….
Toodle pip!
Bertie.
Mom hates it when I'm stressed. She doesn't get much sleep either. We understand.
ReplyDeleteWe hope you and your mom get some sleep soon, Hailey!

Oops, we think that rain might be coming from us:( It has stopped for now but it will be back on Wednesday. We aren't sure yet how Misty will react to thunderstorms, but it won't be long before the big boomers are here. It is Kansas, after all.

Wind is what scares Bella. Hope you don't have another interrupted night.
ReplyDeleteBree had a bad night last night with the wind, rain and sleet so I know how you feel. Hope Lee is doing better today.
ReplyDeleteWe are so sorry about the terrible weather you are experiencing. We pray your weather improves
ReplyDeleteWorrying instead of sleeping is not fun. I hope there are lots of restful nights coming up.
