FFF Nature Friday - Wildlife

Lady mentioned last week she got a bird feeder with a camera and she was obsessed.  However, someone ripped the antenna off and now she will have to physically check the card and not just look at an app. Here are a few videos before our FFF contribution.  (We hope they play!) Earth Day Hike

Lady took us for a hike in the bush behind our house on Saturday to celebrate Earth day. We haven't been back there for awhile (Lee since the fall). Come with us as we explore!

Hi pals - Here is your contest update.

The last of the snow left the front yard on April 21. Ernie you were so close, however snow remained on the side yard.

On April 23, Rosy and Sunny's day, while the pile was much smaller than Friday, there was still side yard snow and the rule is no snow on the grass part of our yard . . . . sorry ladies!

This picture of Lee is a few days old and that snow between our house and Callie's is a thing of the past. The yard is also starting to look green!

Looking at the forecast and all the rain, Lady really thinks we will see the end of the snow this week. Will she be right? Will Yamini win with April 26, or Cecilia with April 27, or Fay with April 30. Or will Lady be wrong and Nobby, Molly, Millie and Walter, or Beth win with early May? We love June, but we think we are grateful her guess off July 4th is not likely going to be the winner!

We will keep you posted.

Mischief Monday - by Phod

 Well, I am happy to report that this week our mischief has been much smaller. Lady's car is getting a new transmission and she should have it back this week. After all the research and because new and gently used cars are crazy $$$ it was decided this was the best option. We still wait for news on the deck. 

I apparently get the mischief award because now that the snow is gone, I like to be neighbourly and wander to Callie's.

The easy path between our houses

My wander Friday night may have resulted in Lady talking to Callie's grandma for an hour, because they haven't seen much of each other. I may have wandered out back to visit my BFF Callie's dad (who came to check a person was with me). I love Callie's dad. I gave him a hug last week.

Spring means more time visiting. Come back tomorrow and see if I still have snow to roll in or if it is gone!

Nature Friday - New Camera

Uncle Chris gave Lady her birthday gift almost 3 months early, so she could enjoy it. She got one of those fancy bird feeders with a camera in it.

Lady and Man got it set up on the weekend, and hopefully the birds will find it soon and we will have more birds to share!

In the mean time, here are some silly deer pictures from the trail cam Lady brought in to check after months (very few pictures as the snow gets too deep, maybe next winter she will ask Callie's people if she can put it in the bush).

Snow Contest

 

Let's jump back to last weekend:

Lots of snow.

This week has been unseasonably warm and after a couple days of low 20C/70F the yard has changed.

Wednesday when Lady left for work, you still couldn't walk across the yard because of snow, but now you can (although it is very muddy!)

However, there is still snow, so thanks to Beau, Ruby Rose and Rosie and Baby for playing. You were all actually closer than Lady thought you would be!

Mischief Monday - A Scary Week - by Phod

 Dear pals,

Last week was a pretty terrible one. Lady says to apologize for not being around at all, she has been barely hanging on some days.

Hiding in the corner of the kitchen may help

Here are the highlights - after 104 hours without power, Lady's car (which has been acting funning and no one could figure out), got sick enough to need a transmission (this is causing drama and while the peeps figure out what they are doing with it all, are living with one car), and then the scariest thing happened.

Tuesday morning, just before 1 am, the deck fell from the sky. Lady and Man are waiting for insurance to come and assess. I was scared when the deck fell, but when I looked out the window in the morning, I literally jumped backwards in fright.

Lady, maybe if I am glued right to you things will be ok!

The week was topped off with Lady leaving for work Wednesday morning and coming home Friday night. She needed to travel for work. 

At any rate, we are here. We are safe. We are working to sort out the car and the deck. The sunshine is helping, come back tomorrow to see how the sun is helping with the true coming of spring!

Nature Friday - Damp Neighbour - by Phod

On Thursday during the ice storm one of my favourite neighbours stopped by. 

A little deer. She spent a good 2 hours eating outside the window. She looked wet and not that impressed. Lady had dumped some compost out here and she really enjoyed it. 

We are seeing deer almost every day! 

Easter Celebrations!

As we mentioned on Monday - in spite of the headaches caused by the storm, we celebrated Easter on Good Friday, by going to Grammie and the Big Guy's for a family lunch. The advantage to not having power, was Lady and Man didn't want to leave us if they didn't have to, so we got to go!

As you can see being there was super exhausting.

Look what the Easter Bunny brought us. Lady dropped one. She would also like to thank everyone who thought she made Phod's birthday treats last week. She is not that talented, however she is a master at tapping her credit card!

On one of the trips to get water, Callie came with her kids. She was forced to pay the hat tax. 

She hated it, but Lady said we were making our own fun these days, and since no animals were hurt (other than perhaps her pride). 

In spite of it all, Easter was ok!
