Rain Rain

This morning when we got up it was pouring rain. I opened the door to let Hailey out, she took one look and rain back upstairs. She has never done this before. She must not need to go!

Not looking forward to our walk!

The Drive In

On the first long weekend of the summer . . . ok it is not summer for another month, but the weather was fantastic and it felt like summer, we decided to take Lee to the drive in. We had taken our previous pets there but we had never taken Lee and we were not sure how she would do.

Watching for her man to come back
Here is how it went.
She was totally stressed in the car. The Man brought a baby for her and this freaked her out.
While we were waiting in the line to get in, some people were walking on the side of the road. We think these people startled her cause she freaked out. It took some work but we got her calmed down.
She enjoyed the walk around the field, liked meeting new dogs and sniffing.
She was great in the car once the movie started. I am not sure she thought this was a smart thing to do, but she tolerated it well. She actually settled down and went to sleep!

We now know that we can mix our dog and one of our favourite things, watching movies!

101 Ways to Stress LeeLee Out

Way 31: Take a baby in the car with you. Generally she may get excited in the car, but is pretty calm. However, something about having a baby in the back seat freaks her out! I don't know if she thought we were going to take her away and this is why we packed her stuff or something else. Needless to say her whining and scratching the car door were annoying. (Check in tomorrow to see where we took her!)

101 ways to totally stress LeeLee out

Way 61: Get the driveway repaved. Not sure if it was the smell of the asphalt, the sound of the trucks and machines, the people outside and occasionally coming to the door or some of each that freaked her out. At any rate my poor girl was beside herself. She was shaking, crying, destroyed a towel from the bathroom (even though during this one of us was always home) and for part of it took refuge under my desk (something she has never done before).

Kitty Agility

The other day, while practicing the weave with Lee at home, the Man decided to see if the cats would do agility. Nin would have no part in it, probably because Lee just kept trying to hump him. Baggy on the other hand showed interest in the treat part . . . .

Last agility

Here is a video of Lee's last agility 2 course. We are going to take a break from school for the summer (and take advantage of being outside), but we may go back in the fall (time will tell).  Lee was totally exhausted when class was done.

Destruction

It has been so long since I have written about destruction. The other night we were having a wicked thunderstorm. First good one of the season (and actually not as good as I would like). It started when I was about 10 minutes from home. Lee was home alone. So I hurried home and Lee was over the moon to see me. Then I noticed this:

This is a chewed up glove. How the heck she got this out of the basket it was in I will never know! The top right corner is her panting tongue. She was so stressed that while I was cleaning up my glove, rather than hid or sulk, she was glued to me. As soon as I opened the bedroom door, she took to her favourite hiding place, under the bed.

Shortly after, I found this pair of chewed up underwear in the bathroom. She was very mad!

Since this, we have also had a plastic cup chewed up.
Let's hope we don't have to start counting days without destruction (currently we are at 0).

We'll all go out to meet her when she comes!

Lee has calmed down when most people come to the door. There is one exception to this and that is her Grammie. There is something about Grammie that throws her into a tizzy. This is a taste of what it looks like (I had to put the camera down to help, so I missed some of the good stuff!)

The second video is a calm Lee getting some Grammie love! Look at that tail go!

Happy Mother's Day!

The best and the worst

Today is May 12. This means it is 2 years since Loki died. It would also have been Gemi's 7th adoption day.
Today is a reminder of the best and worst of pet ownership (and life).
The best, the excitement and joy of getting a new dog.
The worst the saying goodbye to a beloved pet.

To Lo and Gemi,
know that you are forever in our hearts
and in spite of the pain, we are grateful you were in our pack for even a short time.

Feline Friday - MMA in our house!

While Baggy and Nin love each other, like any good siblings they occasionally fight. Historically, Nin has been the winner and beaten the crap out of Baggy. Baggy is feeling feisty these days and isn't allowing Nin to win. I captured a piece of a rare fight this week. Before I reached the phone, Baggy was hissing. It was a smack down!

Agility 2 - Week 5

Here I am doing my thing at agility. I was a little off on Sunday. Ok, I wasn't really off, but the other dogs were and this made me off. We are blaming the full moon!

Get well soon Emma!

Cousin Emma was spayed on Friday and is recovering at home. She is not loving the cone of shame and the "resting" but is doing well. Feel better soon Emma so we can play!

Lee's first bath

Yes after a after nearly 18 months of ownership, Lee needed her first bath. Why? Because apparently while I was at work and she and the Man were at the park, she discovered the puddles. It wasn't the dirt that  bothered us, it was the smell.

Here are some clips from it (sorry not the whole thing but I had to help.

Here is the first time she got wet in the tub.

Let me out, I am done!
After the wash, it was dry off time!

Finally Freedom! This was then followed by her getting he kong and throwing it at me. Yes I did reinforce this by filling it:) Then she spent the rest of the evening ignoring us!

I must say, this went much better than I imagined! I can see us giving her another bath in the future!

Feline Friday - Tolerating

Why is Baggy allowing Lee to be in his space? Because the people have popcorn. Nothing unites the dog and the cat better than food!   It is challenging to enjoy the popcorn with those 2 standing like vultures on one side, and Nin being a vulture on the other!

Walking

I hated the collar
It occurred to me recently how pleasurable walking my dog has become. I remember those first 6 months of having this dog. The pulling, the sore shoulders, the pain, wondering what the heck I was doing with this dog. I had wanted this dog to be my walking companion, but I was having second thoughts. The big change was discovering in the spring of 2011 that she did better being walked on her harness. She doesn't pull nearly as much.

Now, unless there is a squirrel or another dog (and not even any dog, just some other dogs), walks are a joy.

She has grown up to be a good dog!

What's that?

We were on our walk and there were some big scary things all over the street. I was nervous to go by them so my Lady took me over to one and let me smell it. Once I smelt it, it just smelt like dirt and tree and I knew it was ok. I wasn't bothered by the other 20 or so we passed.
My Lady says I will be happy when they plant them cause other dogs will mark them and the walk will smell better. Lady also says it is nice to see so many trees going up.
That was my adventure today! That and I got to play with 2 little white dogs who would have made great friends.
