We had 2 nice big beds in front of the fire, but last week the bed peer struck again.[Must call that Lead Detective Phod to sort out this mystery!] As this bed was a big Costco one, it didn't fit in the washing machine. In the past I have done lots to try and get the Costco ones clean without the washing machine, but they never come 100% clean. The bed peer has very strong smelling pee!
For a few days we had 1 bed by the fire.

There is only one bed, so I guess we should share |
Then when I went for my monthly pet supplies, I looked for a second bed that would fit in the washing machine and said it could go in the washing machine, just in case this bed peer stops by again. The only bed they had was rather small, but I got it anyway. In an ideal world, I would remember to pick up all the beds before I left for work but adding one more thing to the morning is not going to happen.

The little bed is to the right |
They have been taking turns using it. The big bed is the preferred one, and Hailey fake barked once to get Phod to leave so she could have the big bed.
The new bed is not perfect, but it works. I will feel guilty enough when I am in Costco later this month to buy another big one, that will get peed on, and I will get annoyed, and the circle of life will continue.

Phod fits on the bed |
The fing is, when you gets the pawfect snuggly bed you really don't want to get up and go out for a potty break and that's when the little accidents happen! Just can't be helped you see.
ReplyDeleteWhat most concerns me is that Mum goes to Costco here and she DOESN'T bring me back a nice big comfy bed...evers!

I know that circle of life... I bought a big dog bed too and I totally ignored the fact that it couldn't fit in the washer :o( Easy normally ignores dog beds, but this time he used it as a puke place oh boy....

We gave up on beds for the pups, and now just buy blankets. Easy to wash, easy to throw away when they get shredded.

We have beds everywhere and none get used LOL. Have a marvellous Monday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Boomer and Dottie fight over the beds we have too, they even fight over who gets to sit in which chair!
ReplyDeleteWho's peeing in the bed just incase you have a sleep over I'll know who to NOT bunk with.

ReplyDelete...I never bought any beds for Jade; except once, a kind of foamt cushion paw thing when she was getting old. Mostly I used cotton rugs and she was perfectly happy, as was I cuz they washed beautifully!!!
Peeing indoors is likely be either a) something needing checked medically - and strong odour of urine could be an indication of this, or b) behavioural - like separation angst or territory marking, especially new or additional pet around.......... beds are cute, the phantom peer, not so much... Hope you can get to the source of the trubs. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Your bed looks very comfy. You have a nice spot there right in front of the fireplace

Hey you two.... you should talk to your mom and tell her that our furend who has TWO BIG Boy Dogs... got a CRIB Mattress... and puts a Crib Sheet over it... the mattress is... ummmm ahhh hummm... WATER PROOF... that is it... and the Crib Mattress is big enough fur BOTH of them to sleep on... at ONCE... The only thingy that ever needs washing is the sheet.
ReplyDeleteyou could just look around for a laundromat and see if they have one the industrial size machines
ReplyDeleteSome Blogville residents were reviewing a product recently that got rid of smells. Maybe something like that would work.
ReplyDeleteActually, we just read Reilly's comment and a laundromat might just work.
Ohhh I for one know that even the thinnest layer between our tushies and the floor is wonderful
ReplyDeleteMom calls me the Princess and the Pea when it comes to comfort.

Yuppers, that Nature's Miracle stuffs works FABulously at gettin' out the pee!!!! I will NOT tell you how I knows this, cause I do NOT pee on my bed..evers. really. Okay, there was that ONE time!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea Frankie had!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Maybe you can take the bed out of the case, wrap in plastic, then put the case back on? Did you add the pet-pee stuff to the wash water? We have a giant front loader and can squish the bed in there. We are playing catch up since we have been working on the Heart 2 Heart Dance!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
We have the occasional bed peer too and it is hard if you can not wash the bed. WE got a bottle of Natures Miracle to review and it seems to work well if soak the area real well and then let it dry

Oh my boss's dog had a bed like that. He loved it too!
ReplyDeleteOK...this is one time I am glad I have small dogs....I don't know what I would do if I couldn't wash the dogs beds!

Oh that is sooo frustrating! Maybe you should try the waterproof baby bed mattress covers on the inside of the bed then put the outside cover on. It is worth a try. I have a waterproof cover on the one of our beds that can't be stuck on the washer or the foam filling can't be replaced since I have had problems in the past with kitty peeing.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it weird that dogs like to pee on their own beds? We've had several bed pee-ers in our family over the years. So frustrating.
ReplyDeleteFrankie's idea was good, aye? I need beds. I'm bony. I won't sleep on hard surfaces. Mum uses folded doona's. She just throws a soft rug on top and there you go ..... a comfy bed and it looks ok too. All she has to wash often is the soft rug and the doona's not so often. BUT ... then ..... I don't pee on my bed!!
ReplyDeletehahaha! ahhh yes, the bed replacement. I have seen far too much of it!
ReplyDeleteღ husky hugz ღ frum our pack at Love is being owned by a husky!
We only ever sleep on the big bed so we never have the problem of beds fitting in the wash. Mom and dad have always used a waterproof mattress pad to guard against those occasional leaks.
