Mischief Monday - Limited Precious Time - by Phod

 Dear pals,

Apparently I am not as young as I use to be and am more prone to getting stiff and sore. A few weeks ago, they say  I had too much outdoor Precious time and was left a little lame. I can't imagine the soreness has anything to do with my beloved ball. Outdoor Precious was kept from me, pills were shoved down my throat to help with the pain. For a week I rested.

Imagine how excited I was when my peeps said because I hadn't limped for a few days, I could have some Precious time.

This joy was short lived because I was limpy again. But for less time. Currently the Man and Lady are debating if/when I should get outdoor Precious time. Lady is thinking I can have her today with now throwing and running.

Growing old is not for the meek!

Your slightly limpy pal, Phod

  1. Oh Phod, I too am having to learn and accept the limits that come with getting older. As is Gail, although she would deny it. We are sure that Lady and Man will make good choices for you concerning Precious time.

  4. my heart is hurting for you dear Phod, Beau is having the same exact issues with Orange thing which looks just like Precios. with daddy unable to play ball, the limp got almost gone except when climbing up on the sofa was a struggle, pain pills help. now that he is back to only 2 games of 2 to 3 throws he is limping. I say orange thing should be retired, daddy doesn't want to.

  5. Hi Phod! One of the ways we solved a similar problem (although Lady/Man may need to find a smoother surface than grass) is to roll The Precious, rather than throw. Or if on grass, to toss just above the grass line. Precious won't go as far, but should still be chase-able!

  6. Sorry you are hurting, Phod. If only saying "sorry" would make your pain go away.

  7. We hear you, Phod. Chester doesn't run and jump like he used to, and neither do dad and I. These days sleeping is our favorite sport!

  8. Getting old is tough. Mom has been giving me Acti-Flex since I was a year old and we think it's helped me stay younger. Don't overDo, Phod.

  10. Oh blerg. Limpy isn't fun. Don't worry. The humans will figure out how to keep the wild activity to a minimum while giving you some Precious Time.

    Love and licks,

  11. Oh no!!! That's just not fair. Hopefully minimal chasing time will at least give you some Precious time.

  13. We're sorry to hear you have been a little limpy lately, Phod. Our paws are crossed that you can enjoy some time with your precious but maybe without any running or jumping.

  14. Lightning sympathizes with you, Phod. He too has been having some pain in his back legs. Of course, he has bad knees, one CCL tear repaired by surgery that didn't go perfectly well, and one torn CCL that could not be repaired. He is still taking his pain meds but seems to be doing better. He agrees with you - getting old is tough (Mom nods her head as well).
