Phod's official fall photo |
Recap of and additions to the wildlife from the past few weeks.
-A pack of coyotes/wolves singing unlike Lady has ever heard them before
-The screech owl
-Deer, and more deer in the yard
-The fox has been spotted in the yard this week (maybe 2 of them)
-Lady almost hit a raccoon not far from the house driving home one night
-The wild turkeys (a group of 13) have been hanging out
-Lots of activity at the bird feeders
-The neighbour reports bears have been in the bush behind our house (we will be staying on the road!)
-Mice inside our house. The battle continues. Live trapping has been replaced with a more serious method of removal as the numbers were out of control. There is still a little activity (aka poop found in the sink and counter in the morning and mice sightings) but the number has decreased.
Here's hoping next week we can say there has been no new mice activity!
fabulous fall photo phod! we can sing the mice-rable mice song with you... but fortunately no 13 turkeys just one pheasant what caused a circus today... and a bear would be more than we can bear...

ReplyDeleteThat's quite the list! Here's hoping on the mice reduction programme! YAM xx
WoW you are living life on the wild side.
ReplyDeleteThose are some brazen little rodents...did I ever tell you about the time my cousin and her husband bought their first home? It was built in what had been a farming area. Their home was one of the first to be completed. When they moved in she opened the dish washer to find a famiy of itty bitty mices having a picnic. You might have heard her screaming up there in the land of the Red Leaf.

ReplyDeletePHOD just when I think I've seen your most handsome photo...You come up with another one.
Good buddy this one needs to be on the cover Dog Fancy.
Phod is quite the handsome fellow, isn't he? Looks like his collar is a little tight....
ReplyDeleteWow - you have quiet the active house and yard! We had a mousie eat through one of our snowblower wires and thank goodness we discovered it before the snow falls. We're still trying to catch the little so-n-so. You are so handsome, Phod!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great picture of Phod! We had another mousie in the garage. Ghostwriter says she sees lots of deer when she drives to and from work. She hasn't seen any coyotes or bears, though. Be careful pups!
ReplyDeleteSometimes you just have to do what will really get the job done. All that mice poop can really become a health issue:(
ReplyDeleteHandsome Phod - that is an awesome portrait!
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Well....other than the mice, must be wonderful to see all the wildlife. The only wildlife we see at the moment are flies...and we're seeing loads of those.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait!!
ReplyDeleteCammie!
Phod, you are quite unbelievably handsome.
ReplyDeleteBertie is envious of all your wildlife, as am I. What Bertie has not thought through is that he would never ever be allowed off the lead if he lived in your neck of the woods!
Cheers, Gail.
OMD...Sounds like the wildlife is taking over! Be vigilant, Phod!!

Your neighborhood has a lot of excitement. I saw a snakeskin, but no snake, thank goodness. Mom and I are on board with the more serious, permanent methods of rodent control. We feel relieved that there has been some headway.
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
An owl, that sounds exciting. Mommy likes Owls.
ReplyDeleteAll the critters are hunkering down for winter. Finding food, shelter....Netflix and cocktails before the cold weather! We have upped our battle too, mostly with the deer.
ReplyDeleteI have 24 bars of 'Irish Spring' soap skewered on sticks around the fence line. It looks ridiculous, but it keeps them away until the soap bars melt....BOL! Our owls have been extra active too, especially with the full moon this week. We love them, they eat rodents..Yay!
It sound like winter is coming to your neck of woods.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on
I love all of the wildlife except for mice in the house! I'd even like bears in the house better than that!
ReplyDeleteHope you can get the mice under control

Phod your portrait is stunning. We always have to get rid of mice in our house too but they only come into the basement.
ReplyDeleteA truly wagnificent fall photo!
ReplyDeleteHi hi hi! Ojo here! Wow, that is busy wildlife! Can I come over so I can bark? Also, you look very handsome in this photo! Also, if I were to come over I could help with the mice! I am very good at mousing!
ReplyDeleteMy person says it is rude to invite myself over. Even if there are mice. Sigh.
