As regular readers know, Phod is completely in love/addicted to his ball Precious. If you look in the header you can see Precious is featured. In the winter because Precious easily gets lost in the snow (and words cannot express how stressful that is for our boy), we switch to a Chuck frisbee. Phod does tolerate this, because some form of fetch is better than no fetch, but he shows his displeasure by destroying it.
This picture was taken of Chuck this weekend. The flying squirrel was this year's, but if you look in the picture you can see previous discs. It is now in the garbage, along with all the other destroyed discs. (I have been meaning to pick them up for some time, but usually am in the garage with the dogs or with full hands).
It may be a good thing that it is someone's birthday this coming weekend, because winter is still here, and while Precious has returned for some time in the driveway, I feel we still have some Chuck days ahead.
Speaking of winter, and maybe the end of it, be sure to enter our When Will The Snow Be Gone contest. You can find out the details HERE. We have 11 entries so far, so there are still lots of days between April 1st and June 1st to pick!
Oh how I wish my girls would play with a ball!! I tried everything when Chloe was a puppy to get her to play. She had a big brother then...a Newf/Lab mix and he would play with his ball..but she really had no interest. She did play with his other stuffed toys though...even though they were bigger than she was!! :) As she has gotten older, she has less and less interest in her toys. She will play with her puzzles though...probably because they contain FOOD! :)
ReplyDeleteOh Phod, I do hope its time fur Precious soon...roll on SPRING!!!!!

I too have a precious squeaky ball toy. It was from my dearest Princess Leah; a tennis ball that squeaks. I chewed the green cover off it, and now it's perfect. All my other squeaky toys have been chewed beyond recognition.
ReplyDeleteChuck and of course Precious sound most interesting indeed. All my toys have names too as well as furry faces. Don't worry I'm talking stuffed toys from the pet shop not squirrels or other furries I meet when out on my daily strolls.

ReplyDeleteRIP Chuck. 😇 Sam and Elsa look at me like I'm daft if I toss something for them. They seem to channel...'well you threw it...you go fetch it.' What a joy to have a boy that loves his fetching ball! [redo--dang typo!] :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like what I do to tennis balls.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a few flying squirrels and "Chucks" that looked like that too! Our pups really do get attached to certain toys, don't they? Just like us I suppose! :-)
ReplyDeleteA Chucks graveyard! BOL!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand, Phod! My tennis balls are as precious to me as your Precious! It has to be a real official tennis ball. The Kong squeaky tennis ball is not good enough!
ReplyDeleteThose winter toys are no Precious. That's for sure!
ReplyDeleteLove and licks,
Cupcake
I tore up my small chuck it frisbee ;-(

Cricket is more of a "love the one you're with" kind of fetcher. She has a few balls she prefers, but no real clear favorite.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried any of the West Paw Design flying discs? They have two different ones, the Zisc and the Dash, and both are pretty indestructible. Even Cricket will play with them, when there are no balls available!
