This and That Updates

Project Hailey
Hailey sitting on Man's shoulder
awaiting a belly rub!

We are on week two of 2 walks per day. We have done really week. So far she has two walks a day except last Sunday, when it was too cold and Monday morning when it was too cold. I hadn't expected it to be so cold on Monday. I got up 5:20 am to get a walk with them all in. I bundled up, and off we went. Half way down the driveway Emma indicated it was too cold for her, so I brought them all back to the house and put her in. Off we went again. By the end of the driveway, Hailey and Zaphod were too cold and wanted to go home. So back to the house we went. If I had known it was going to be so cold, I would have stayed in bed for an extra 30 minutes!

Hailey is understanding the routine of this. Once I have been home for about 10 minutes, she starts getting antsy to go. Phod is not enjoying the routine of it. When we first leave, he throws himself at the door and whines. He whines a bit after we leave. The Man is afraid to take him out while we were out, in case he goes looking for us. When I return, I put Hailey in the house and get Phod for chuck. That he loves.

My legs are aching. I am hoping once I get use to walking about 4 km/almost 3 miles in a day (and I am trying to stand more at work too), my legs will adjust.

We are also working on some training, thanks to Lauren from We have just started so will report on this later.

Uncle Chris is feeling a bit better is has gone back to work 2 half days per week. Depending on how

this goes will depend on when Emma goes home. She has been very good. We have only had 2 accidents. The habit we don't love is her need to go outside for a pee every few nights in the middle of the night. Hailey has figured out how to play with her and every night around dinner the three of them run around like crazy dogs. It is nice to see.

(Sorry about the poor pictures, they are from my iPhone and the lighting wasn't great).

  1. Glad to hear Uncle Chris is on the mend although I will miss Emma stories when she goes home!
I know what you mean about that extra half hour in bed, as a Princess I don't do rain so when Mum gets up early for my morning walkies she gets very miffed to find it raining and she could have stayed in bed!

  2. Onwards and upwards with the walk and we are sure the routine helps too. Sure hope Chris makes a full recovery and he and Emma can be together again but if not we know she is in a great hands. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. Hari OM
Ways to go, but showing promise is the gist of this I think. Always good when you can see some change and feel it as well! YAM xx

  4. You are doing so well walking them and in the cold to boot!! We are way proud of you. I know uncle chris misses emma and it is so good to hear he is on the mend.

  5. GRRRRRRREAT news about Uncle Chris.... we are sending him MORE POTP to keep him improving like this.
Many walks a day would be FUN...
We are glad that Emma is fitting in and Playing and stuffs.... butt sorry that she wants out in the middle of the night...

  6. It's so great that your uncle chris feels better :o) I hope this cold temperatures will disappear soon and walks in the early morning are more comfy... easy is a midnight pee-r too, but it's just because he can, not because he needs a pee-break at night... if we have rain, he goes back to bed and there I am, in my PJ and with frozen feet alone in the back yard...arrgh :o)

  8. we hope uncle Chris continues to improve.

  9. When the doggie says it's too cold then it REALLY is too cold! We hope Emma can go home soon!

  10. That must be cold, if the dogs are too cold. We've been having cold(ish) mornings, but WE LOVE THEM. We just race around and play.

We hope Uncle Chris improves quickly....not because we want you to get rid of Emma....just because we want him WELL!

  11. I give you a lot of credit taking those walks in the freezing cold! It's great that the pups all get along so well. I wouldn't like that middle-of-the-night "outing" either...

  12. Oh gotta get on the shoulder for belly rubs. Hate to see Emma leave, but sure hope Chris gets well fast!

  13. You are doing so great! You inspire me to get back out there walking as well. If I'm only taking one dog with me, it is difficult to get out of the house, so I know how that is. We have a fenced in yard to so I'll put the dog going outside, and then try to get out the door alone and get them outside. It definitely makes things more challenging!

  14. You are probably going to get into better shape from all this walking with the dogs. We're glad to hear Chris is feeling better too.

  15. Glad to hear Uncle Chris is feeling better.

    Aroo to you,

  16. Wow, 3 miles! I do two and I'm beat.

  17. Good job!! That is terrific!

  18. Good to hear about Uncle Chris. I look forward to hearing what training you have been doing too!
