Training Thursday: Girl Time

I continue to work on building a more positive relationship with my girl. We haven't had as many alone time walks as I would have liked. The first week in March brought -30 temperatures again. I am hopeful that with the longer days and hopefully warmer temperatures we will be able to do this 2-3 times per week.

Hailey is loving these. The first part of the walk is always sniff and walk time. The only commands being placed are those needed if cars pass us. On the way back, after she is tired, we have been working on commands. Currently, we are just working on sit. She sits in the house well, but not as well on the road (although it is improving). It is my plan to work on down and relax once the ground isn't frozen or muddy.

The hardest part of our girl time is getting out the door. Phod has caught on that he isn't going and does a great job at making it challenging to leave the house without him!

  1. LOL we know that one and I play up for a good few minutes and up our road for a while till I settle and then drag my peeps all the way to the park. Her fault she is just too darn slow. Onwards and upwards we say. Have a tremendous Thursday.
    Best wishes Molly

  4. I know that phenomenon from our huskies. It was a mission impossible to leave the house only with one of them. But with two on a leash it was nearly impossible for me :o) Have a great thursday and a fabulous "girl time"

  8. Phod, you could always work on tricks that require treats while the girls are on the town. Every pup wins when treats are involved!

  9. We've been known to have a barking pup when one is left home. And we live in a crowded area, so it doesn't happen much. We're sure Hailey enjoys those girls' times.

    -30...sheesh. SHE's about to put on a sweatshirt because it's cold here.....18°/68°...BOL!

  10. Oh Phod, I feel for you! When my person takes Ojo and...
... I can hardly say it...
    ... and leaves me... behind...

    It is horrible!!!

And not-fair. Well, okay, she does leave me with a treat puzzle toy. But still. I would rather be with my person! I can do the game called "agility". Why do I not get to go when Ojo does get to go?

Phod, we should form a support group.
