Mischief Monday - Goldby must die!

The bush Hailey went in
Hailey is on a quest to rid our yard of Goldby, the resident groundhog. This is a tough job because there are at least 6 groundhog holes around our house.

Several evenings Goldby has made her job much easier, he/she has been in the driveway. Hailey then knows what hole to check out!

The other day it went something like this: Hailey took off into the deep bush after the groundhog. She got in so deep we couldn't reach her tie out (which isn't attached to anything). From the side closest to our house the bush is was too thick to reach her. Man had to go around the bush on the neighbours side and go in the deep bush and get her. He found her half way down the groundhog hole. He had to drag he up. She was covered in dirt and happy as a pig in poop.

Now Hailey goes out on leash . . . .

  1. BOL - I had a friend with Jack Russell's whose dogs used to do the same thing! I was always afraid they wouldn't come back out!

  3. Maybe one day you'll catch Goldby Lee... Shiner has been after this big fat vole that lives in one of the gardens. It's family lives in the yard. So far no luck for her either.

  4. We had a groundhog to run off a few years ago. I was lucky enough to have a feral momcat at the house at the time and I simply put some of her stool around the groundhog entrances and poof, off he went..

  9. Heh. Poor Hailey. My brother has a pretty effective method for dealing with moles, but I'm sure you love your groundhog.

  11. We've never seen a pig in poop but somehow, it sounds pretty happy so we can imagine how Hailey must have felt! Good job! Purrs....

  12. This sounds like Millie's obsession with a chipmunk that lives in our yard. She always checks his usual holes before she does anything else.

  17. I can see why!! LOL! Dakota said to tell you he is starting to get a complex BOL! He doesn't understand why his kitty brother gets visits from you and he doesn't. Being a dog is confused. He sends his love.
