Our trip ended where it started, back in Barcelona. We were to have about 2 days here, but the second we ended up hunkering down in our hotel as the rain was so bad, there was flooding near where we were. This was about a week after the tragic flooding in Valencia Spain. We decided not to risk it.
After dropping our luggage off at the hotel, we went back to the city and explored Parc de la Ciutadella. For decades this 77 acre park was the only green space in Barcelona. It is home to the zoo, the Museum of Natural Science, ponds, statues, and lots of birds. Not pictured, out of respect to the residence, it is also home to many of the un-housed and clusters of matching tents were found around.

Fun fact, Chris hates birds - they scare him! |
While walking the streets near the park we found a dungeon. While it was too scary for me to go in, I had a little fun at the door.
Our final big stop, was the Picasso Museum in Barcelona. Here are some favourites.

The beautiful building the museum is housed in. |
Back at our hotel, the 3 of us and our luggage hardly fit in the elevator. We had a good laugh.
The desk pulled out into what I called the hobbit bed.
After our quiet day of reading and movies, we had a very early flight from Barcelona to Paris and then Paris home.

The Man enjoying business class |
And that concludes our grand adventure for the Man's birthday. Thank you all for joining us. The happiness research says reliving some of a vacation can boost your happiness. Thanks for boosting mine during these long dark days.
Note: People have asked if we have another big trip planned and the answer is no. At this time, we don't want to leave the dogs. Their time with us is limited and we want to enjoy as much of it as we can.
that is great.. but to be honest, this berds scare me too a little ... like the tree from hitchcock movie...

ReplyDeleteThat was a grand last stand... Well done for taking on such a trip and truly making the most of it. As for that last bit - yeah, now is the time to spend quality days with the pupsters. You won't regret it. YAM xx
I would love to see the Picasso Museum, and love the building itself.. awesome photos and I even like the desk/pull out bed. how cool is that?
ReplyDeleteThere sure were lots of interesting things to see at your last stop. We have to agree with not leaving the pups now as we're very senior pups too and relish every minute we spend with our parents.
ReplyDeleteLady in the coffin made me laugh out loud☺
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhhhhhh I did like that elephant. OMDs Uncle Chris has a bird phobia...maybe he saw Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. I love birds but not big black birds like Ravens or Crows similar to what was in The Birds.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your trip K10, Man and Chris...
I'm happy you had such a good personal sitter for Phod and Lee
Hugs Cecilia
