Stop disturbing my sleep to see if I am alive, I am! |
We are realistic that our Nin is not going to live forever and since Baggy was lucky enough to go peacefully in his sleep last July, we are hoping for the same for Nin. In the morning if he hasn't starting singing as soon as we get up (often he as started before), we go and check him to make sure he is still alive. Every evening, the first person home (usually Man) checks him to make sure he is still alive. If we haven't seen him for a bit, we check to make sure he is still alive. Each time he is, we say "Glad to see you are still alive Nin." This is our new reality. Every day or part day with our Nin is a blessing.
Mom had a dog who died when he was 17½ year old. Every day when mom came home from work she entered the room and touched him to see if he was still alive. He couldn't hear anymore, so sometimes he got scared when mom touched him in his sleep :D
ReplyDeleteHow sweet and we hope he is with a bit longer. Have a fabulous Friday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
I cross my paws that you can say that for many days to your Nin.... everyday is a gift ...

ReplyDeleteA long and loved life deserves such a caring and peaceful demise. May Nin's departure be on his own terms and may you have special moments in whatever time remains allotted. YAM xx
It is one thing we all hope for - that our beloved furbabies leave us peacefully knowing that that were loved.
ReplyDeleteWE could have said those very same words just a few weeks ago. Sometimes we swear we still hear Dietzman meowing for his food, and Mom still goes down the cat aisle at the store to get him more. Mom says we had a special blessing that he was in our life so long, and you do also. Stella Rose and momma
ReplyDeleteNin my gorgeous feline friend...you are loved and the first and last thing on your peeps mind everyday.
ReplyDeleteAs my granny used to say old age isn't for sissies....hugs madi a senior kitty friend
No offense Nin but dang, you are ancient. OK, not as old as our dad cuz he is older than the earth. To be old and loved is the best!

Mom always says she hates that we are getting older. Wish we could live forever and ever

It's hard to see any animal getting older. We hope Nin still has some good days ahead of him.
ReplyDeleteCrikey .... I thought my Nan (96 years old) was the oldest person I knew. Nin must be almost 100 in peep terms, aye?? Lucky she lives with you cause I don't think she'd be alive if she lived with me. I don't have such a good reputation around pussy cats. Although if Nin looked at me like she's looking at you in that pic I'd probably run a mile, aye??
ReplyDeleteNearly 20 years! What a beautiful gift. <3
ReplyDeleteNin is so lucky to have a family that cares for him so well.
ReplyDeleteYour family is so lucky to have Nin and he is so lucky to have you. 19 years and 9 months together is indeed a gift. We hope you get to enjoy each other for many more months. <3
ReplyDeleteOMD, that is like as old as MOM!!!! No, wait, Ma is WAY older than that! Butts, if you translate into doggie years.....☺
ReplyDeleteOh, Nin, I LOVES that look! That is the look I gives Ma when she tries to wake me to go outside for the last piddle! You rock dude!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Our Conrad is around 17 years old but very much showing his age. He is unsteady, won't use the litter box all the time, doesn't groom himself, and we have to check on him when he's sleeping as well. But he still eats like a pig and toddles around always underfoot (when he was younger he hid all the time so we just enjoy having him out with us now). We also hope he will go peacefully in his sleep, and even though we know that time is probably coming, it will still be a very sad day. You are so right that every day is a blessing!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting blog. A lot of blogs I see these days don't really provide anything that attract others, but I'm most definitely interested in this one. Just thought that I would post and let you know.
