The Routine on Vacation

My parents survived having the 4 dogs by creating a strict routine that mostly went like this.

7 am: Pups up and taken out 1 at a time for bathroom break.
8 am: Puppy breakfast. Each pair fed in a different location. This was one of the most chaotic times of the day.
8:45: Exercise: While they tried various walking groups in the end the best was - Hailey and the Big Guy go for a walk (as Hailey can not be off leash), and Grammie and the other 3 go to the beach to play ball/swim (Lake Huron is Grammie and the Big Guy's front yard so it is easy to get to the beach)
9:30: Puppy nap time
1:00 - bathroom break
5:00 - dinner time
6:30 - Kong followed by a chewy/cookie for my two who don't like the chewies
9:00 - bathroom break
Bedtime: Big Guy and Tendra in the master bedroom; Grammie and Lee in the guest room; boy puppies in the living room.

Repeat

"Phod is in my bed"

As Hailey has proven to not always be 100% trustworthy, the 4 dogs were never left alone. One parent stayed home at all times.

It was very relaxing to know that the pups were in the best, loving hands while we were away. I know we didn't worry the same as if they were in puppy jail.

Thanks Mom and Dad for taking such good care of our pups while we were off seeing the world. We look forward to having you at our place in a few weeks for Christmas!

  6. That must be such a relief - our Monty is a runner and the thought of leaving him with anyone scares the heck out of us.

  14. That's fantastic that the Grands moved their schedule around to accommodate the grand-dogs.

We go to the kennel so SHE doesn't have to worry about us!

  15. How wonderful to have such good pup sitters. For several years our niece has stayed at our house when we went anywhere overnight or longer. Now she is married, don't know what we will do when she is no longer willing to do it

  22. Dear Ojo's cousin Lee,

Phod is a bed hog. You should take his precious for hostage. Perhaps he would trade then?
