More Practicing - by Hailey

Last Saturday, we had to practice going in the car again. This time we had to go in the car for an hour. Phod had breakfast first, and he was sick in the car. Eating 1.5 hours before going in the car doesn't work for him. Last time we went in the car about 6 hours after he ate and he was fine. He was a gentleman and was sick on the towel Lady put down for him, so clean up was very easy. Lady says before we leave for BAR on the traveling days Phod won't have breakfast.

Other than that, Phod and I did a wonderful job at sharing the backseat. He does take up a lot, but I will forgive him.

We were so excited to be at the park! We went to a park called Bruce Pit. It is a huge area, former sand pit, with a fence around the edge to keep us in. It was surprisingly not busy for the Saturday of the long weekend.

We had a great time. We:

That is us in the middle of the picture

sat for cookies (or at least I did),

Did I mention cousin Emma met us there? You can see her paws in this picture

rolled in stinky things,

Emma waiting for me to move so she can roll

ran some more,

I love to run. Lady says I could run at home if I was as good there as I was at the park

found mud to play in,

Later Phod rolled in dirt to cool down!

begged for treats,

Cousin Emma begged for our treats a lot, so did a lot of dogs we didn't know. Beef lung is popular at the park
sniffed things,

There was so much pee mail to read, it was crazy
 left pee mail,

I always led, Phod and Emma followed me

made friends,

There was a great Dane group walking, we met a lot of them. They are big so I let them sniff me.

and practiced our tricks.

Man made us do table at the park

After about an hour and ten minutes of doing the park, we were tired and really ready to go home. Lady and Man said we were perfect and we can go again. It is the first time in a long time that I didn't end up on leash. Lady says that is because she had beef lung in her bag (along with water) and I knew it.

It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning!

  6. Wow, what a grreat day at the park!!

  7. Poor guy getting sick in the car. How did Lady train him to do that on a towel? My rug would greatly appreciate it if my dogs would do that! Is there anything she can give him for motion sickness before he gets in the car? I can't imagine it's very fun for anyone having him be sick.

BUT, it does look like you all had a fantastic time at the park, and especially nice that you didn't have to go on leash.

  8. Wow, Haley, you all did my favorite things. What a great day! You have inspired me to ask Mommy to take me to the park tomorrow (we are at work today). Lexi

  9. Ohhhhh that is such a great adventure in prep for your trip to the B.A.R. I hope and purr there will be calm tummies the entire trip.

  12. The park looks like it was great fun! Hopefully Phod will get more used to the motion of the vehicle.

    Your Pals,

    Murphy & Stanley

  13. Having space and time to RUN FREE is wonderful. We hope everything will work our for B.A.R. Maybe you'd better plan some RUN FREE breaks on the way!

  15. Too bad about the barfing, but maybe with more practice things will improve. That sure was a great time at the park.

  16. Wells, except for the puking, BRAVO!!!! Good job guys!! Oh, and I gots to agree with that beef lung! DELISH!!! Ma buys a huge bag of freeze dried beef lung and cuts them into smaller pieces for me (why?? I gots no idea! geesh) butts it's a great value, and one of my favorites!
Looks like a FABulous time, and I hopes you guys can go to that FABulous park again soon!!!

  17. Looks like a fun time. When Thunder was young he always used to get sick in the car. Always. I think it was motion sickness combined with anxiety. We did a lot of different things to help him, including me sitting in the back seat with him, which actually did help. Eventually he got over it. It just took him having a bunch of car trips. Now he rides in his crate and no issues.

  18. What a great time at the park. So good you are practicing for your trip
    Mr Bailey, Hazel & Mabel

    Love and licks,

  24. Wow! I don't think I have ever seen the two of you in Park before! It looks like you had an amazing time! I hope you get to go again soon! (Even if cars make you sick, Phod. That part is no fun.)
